PEG
Music and Lyrics by David Heneker. Based on an idea by Roy Sone from the play Peg O' My Heart by J. Hartley Manners. First performance at The Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Guildford. March 8, 1984
First performance at The Phoenix Theatre, London, April, 12. 1984 Act One It is 1913 at Simla Lodge in Sussex and the Chichesters are hopelessly in debt. However, today marks the reading of the will of a close relative. Mrs. Chichester, her son, Alaric, and daughter, Ethel, expect to receive a substantial sum. The entire household is buzzing in anticipation of a recovery to a grand style of living in just "A Matter Of Minutes". Meanwhile, Ethel meets with her married lover, Christian Brent, who claims, once again, that he is ready to leave his wife. He attempts to entice her while she longs for a finer man. The kitchen is alive with preparations for the new guest and Peg and her dog Micky enter unnoticed. She and Henry ("Buttons") and Dora (the housemaid) meet and hit it off instantly as they are "Three Of a Kind". Bennett, the parlour-maid, realising the new girl is Mrs. Chichester's niece, ushers her to the family who are shocked by her appearance. Mrs. Chichester orders that the clothes that Peg is wearing be disposed of and that they should buy a whole new wardrobe. Peg protests that she already has "Pretty Dresses".

Search KU Etiquette Dinner could give young job seekers the polish they need Oct. 25, 2001 College students are used to facing the fork in the road at the end of their studies. Now they are facing the fork on the table. On Nov. 1, Ann Marie Sabath, nationally recognized etiquette expert, returns to the University of Kansas to coach students on the finer points of mingling and dining. These tips could make a world of difference for students in the midst of a job hunt in a tight economic market. The KU Career Services Alliance and the Kansas Alumni Association have teamed to present the Etiquette Dinner for students and staff on Nov. 1. The event, a reprise of the Etiquette Dinner held last academic year, begins with a presentation at 5:30 p.m. at Alderson Auditorium in the Kansas Union. The group will then migrate to Adams Alumni Center for a 7 p.m. hands-on dinner where students can check their dining skills and manners in a no-pressure environment.

Scope and Contents
This small, but significant collection contains material from Laurette Taylor's early acting days, ca. 1907, through her retirement years to her glorious return to the stage in her legendary performances of The Glass Menagerie (1945) by Tennessee Williams. Her career spanned the era of vaudeville and silent film to the war years of the mid-1940s. Included in this collection are correspondence, personal and theater photographs, photograph albums, press reviews, articles, legal documents, and contracts. Also included are writings of her son, Dwight Taylor, as well as papers and works of her second husband, J. Hartley Manners, the playwright whose partnership accounted for her early roles. Unfortunately, in contrast to Taylor's prolific professional life, little remains to document her career. According to her daughter, Marguerite Courtney, Laurette destroyed all press books, letters, programs, photograph albums, and other memorabilia associated with her life with Manners upon his death in 1928. Her most significant work during this time was her highly successful and long-running portrayal of Peg in
