It is a very informative page on the Knights Templar. Check it out!!!!!!! The dreaded Templar Knights who formed the basis for Amando de Ossorio's 'Blind Dead' films really existed. Though some degree of uncertainty must necessarily hang over their history (there are conflicting accounts of their early exploits) it is generally accepted that the Knights Templar (or "The Order of the Poor Knights of Christ and the Temple of Solomon" to give them their full title) were founded by Hugues de Payens and his eight companions in 1118 AD., during the First Crusade, with the express intent of protecting pilgrims; they were in effect warrior monks, storm-troopers of the Crusades, and indeed they were soon being referred to as a 'militia of Christ'. From their inception they were an unusual religious order in that they were largely composed of laymen. They wore their hair cut short, but were forbidden to trim their beards; this was unusual in an age where most men were scrupulously clean-shaven. All members of the Order wore white habits or surcoats and cloaks, though these soon evolved into the very distinctive white mantle for which the Templars were famed. They lived by the Benedictine rule (as reformed by the Cistercians). They had all taken vows of poverty, chastity and obedience, these being the strict guidelines laid down by the original founders, but in the event only that of obedience was adhered to with any great enthusiasm.

The United Nations and many NGO's are doing all they can to help the people of East Timor but the fact still remains that more than two years after the violence and still thousands of families are living under sheets of tin and amongst the rubble of what used to be their family home. One such family was that of Antonio a poor mans who was living under some sheets of tin near to where his jouse had once stood. Antonio's wife and children were living with other relatives around the city because there was no room for them all under the tin sheets where antonio lived. When ARMS met Antonio he had not seen his family for a month, he was very sad and said he felt helpless. Within a few days an ARMS building team had cleared the rubble from the site where the old house had stood and together with Antonio build a replacement house. Over joyed Antonio went and fetched his family - now they are living together again in the new house of which Antonio is very proud. Full Review Back in the early 80's, the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal was flourishing...introducing a new and exciting form of heavy metal, that was aggressive, fast and filled with bleak images of a world gone to hell. Establishing mood through pictorial means is the director Ridley Scott's most notable talent. There may be no working director more accomplished at wringing texture out of the color blue than the prodigious and now prolific Mr. Scott; you'd swear that with his dazzling washes of blues and sand tones, he was inventing additional hues on the spot. Because Mr. Scott's eye delivers so much information, he then is at a loss to give the material a proper emotional grounding. "Black Hawk Down" is like Mr. Scott's "G.I. Jane" but this time with an all-boy cast. Sam Shepard, as Major General Garrison, seems to be smoking a Montecristo No. 2 primarily so that billowing clouds of Cuban smoke can register in the war room; it doesn't help that the cigar has been given as much characterization as anyone in the movie. There are plot flags visible beside Old Glory. As in "Pearl Harbor," the battle in "Black Hawk Down" is an eye-catching misfire, color-coordinated down to the tracer rounds. The film, whose title refers to downed military helicopters, dramatizes the failed United States mission to help relieve famine in Mogadishu, Somalia, late in 1992 by securing supply routes against Somali militias. Several hundred Somalis and 18 American soldiers lost their lives the next year in what was called the Battle of the Black Sea. The film was adapted from the best-selling account by Mark Bowden, which stacked up detail; Mr. Scott's slathering of visual elements is the pictorial correlative of the author's work.
