Issue #30 Feature: Herbs for Children
The Editor's Herbal Center:
"A true conservationist is a man who knows that the world is not given by his fathers, but borrowed from his children." John James Audubon (1785 - 1851) This week Nasturtium officinale is thriving in my California garden. I haven't seeded any in over three years because they come up on their own in all the right places. This one is a nice spot of color flowing over the pot that holds 'blue-eyed girl' grass at the end of my koi pond. I love the way the colors and textures reflect on the water. When the nasturtiums are blooming, I know spring is on its way and nothing is more tasty or colorful than a garden salad interspersed with brilliant orange nasturtium flowers and pretty, blue, crunchy, borage flowers. Nasturtiums are easy to grow and a fun, safe plant for children.
