Several faculty members, led by Jim Sochacki and Dave Pruett, are developing a new program in computational science in cooperation with the physics department, and with support from the National Science Foundation. The project has also supported the construction of a super computer in the Center for Computational Mathematical Modeling. The statistics group continues to work on new ideas and programs. A group of faculty members is developing a new collection of courses for middle school teachers. Other programs for teachers, including a new summer program for current K-8 teachers supported by an Eisenhower grant, are also in the works. Research work by undergraduates continues to expand, with several students presenting work at the national MAA meeting in New Orleans. Peterson, Lyons Score Top Awards
