** Christmas is an excellent time to examine ourselves and to prepare ourselves for the new year! **
Introduction: Sometimes it takes "ages" for some of the pictures to download into one's computer depending upon what type of connection you are using. For this reason, I have set up my web page so that there are some paragraphs first which you will need to read while pictures are loading. Then you will find a table of "clickables" which will allow you to "jump around" in the web site viewing only those things of interest. If you are somewhat new to this site, you might consider just looking at things as they come. Have fun. I know that I am! POINTER : If you pass your pointer over the picture, you will see in many cases additional remarks pop up on the picture. I have not finised activating this for all photos. FINGER : If you put your pointer over a picture and there is a hand, you can click on the picture and get a larger picture of what you are seeing. . I have not finised activating this for all photos.

Ice Victorious In Midvale 100
By Adam Mackey 25 Super Late Models of the Main Event Racing Series combined with lower than average fields for the Midvale Speedway’s regular divisions, made for 125 cars in the pits this past Wednesday, July 3. In Main Event time trials, Seville’s Tim Ice was the top qualifier for much of the session. However, the last car to take the track was Gary Whipkey’s and he was top qualifier at Midvale last season. His first lap of 14.004 was only .004 off of the top time, but on his second lap, his car stuck even better as Whipkey became the only driver in the 13 second bracket at 13.856. Ice with a 14.000 was second, while Tim Felver (14.033), Steve Gilland (14.050), and Paul Miller, Jr. (14.050) rounded out the top five. After qualifications, Whipkey drew the number 7 pill, which put Midvale Speedway Late Model regulars in the top four starting spots. A.P. Ren and Don Harvey, Jr. in row one with Paul Miller, Jr., and Steve Gilland in row two, brought the field in for the green. On the start, the outside lane was definitely the place to be, as Harvey and Gilland raced into first and second, while the polesitter, Ren, dropped to third.

Leg #1 - Mansfield Leg #2 - Barberton Leg #3 - Owosso Leg #4 - Midvale ... Leg #10 - Mansfield Rohrer Races To Toledo Main Event Victory By Adam Mackey The Toledo Speedway was the host for leg #11 of the 2002-Main Event Racing Series, this past Sunday, September 8. In all, 37 outlaw-bodied Super Late Models were in the pits, and the competition was as fierce as ever. In qualifying, the top 14 were locked into the 100-lapper, while the other spots would come from the last chance (4), and Main Event points (6). When time trials came to an end, it was Mt. Morris, MI driver Johnny Bellott sitting on top with a 15.464. Jerry Cook (15.590), Jay Sommers (15.598), Brad Keselowski (15.653), and Rich Rohrer (15.681) completed the top five. In the pit area, Bellott drew the #8 pill, the highest inversion number, and that put Michael Simko and Mack Gribble, Jr. on the front row for the feature event. When the green flew, the second row cars of Scott Hantz and Rich Rohrer got a little too close and bumped tires in turn four. Hantz slid up the raceway, again making contact with Rohrer, who slid sideways and brushed the wall with the right-rear.

Steve Groff did it again. He attracted a growing number of conservation leaders, equipment dealers, farm suppliers and university experts at his 5th annual field day. Billed "Tools for Transition," this year's sessions and demonstrations focused on how to switch from conventional tillage to no-till cropping systems. Groff's profitable yet environmentally friendly strategies prompted his award as the 1998 Outstanding Cooperator of the year by the Lancaster County Conservation District. And at the field day, Steve and his father, Elias Groff, were honored with the Pennsylvania Chesapeake Bay Clean Water Award. This award, presented by Pennsylvania department of Agriculture Deputy Secretary Christian Herr and Gerald Heistand from the Lancaster County Conservation District, recognizes farm operators who excel in water quality protection. Field day visitors could observe first hand the Groffs' farming practices which protect the soil from erosion and prevent excess nitrogen and phosphorus from entering streams and ground water supplies. The fields, mapped and clearly designated, showed various cover crop combinations.
