Noch ein Verlag. Muss dass denn sein? Natürlich nicht. In Deutschland gibt es schließlich mehr Verlage als Buchhandlungen. Und warum dann jetzt auch noch STRANGE?
Nicht nur, weil Masochisten die Selbstausbeutung in Kleinverlagen als ein Höchstmaß an Genuss empfinden. Nein, das alleine reicht als Begründung nicht. Hinzu kommt noch eine gehörige Portion Größenwahn.
Wir bei STRANGE meinen nämlich Programmlücken füllen zu müssen, an denen etablierte Verlage höhnisch vorbeigehen oder die sie einfach nicht bedienen wollen.
Wir sind natürlich auf Wohlwollen und Mithilfe Ihrerseits angewiesen. Als kleiner Verlag haben wir nicht die Power, kostspielige Werbung zu machen. Deshalb sind für uns Rezensionen überlebenswichtig: Mögen Sie unsere Bücher oder verreißen Sie uns — Hauptsache, Sie berichten über STRANGE. Da sind wir völlig schamlos. Für Bestechungen ist unser Etat leider zu klein.
Strange days have found us “, sang Jim Morrison. Wir leben in merkwürdigen Zeiten. In Zeiten, in denen das Buch (neben dem Internet) zum wichtigsten Informationsträger geworden ist. Das ist schon ziemlich strange: Ausgerechnet das älteste und das jüngste Massenmedium transportieren heute Informationen, vor denen andere Medien zurückschrecken oder sie nicht verbreiten dürfen. Die mediale Verblödungsmaschine läuft auf vollen Touren: Statt den SPIEGEL zu lesen, könnte man gleich auf die Homepage des Bundesnachrichtendiensts gehen, und was das Fernsehen und Cinemaxe einem zumuten, ist eine schamlose Beleidigung der Intelligenz. In diesem Fahrwasser bewegen sich leider auch immer mehr Buchverlage, indem sie vor kontroversen Themen oder Romanen zurückschrecken und uns glauben machen wollen, im Seichten könne man nicht ersaufen. Leute sind schon in Pfützen ertrunken; wahrscheinlich die meisten.

From Books to Film In 1904, J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan was performed on stage in London. It has enchanted children ever since. It is part fairy tale and part adventure story, presenting its pirates as foolish and incompetent caricatures. In children's literature of the 1800's and early 1900's, pirates were popular subject matter. A new breed of hero was created: the smart, young, Anglo- Saxon Protestant who does battle with pirates. From this came the swashbuckling heroes of the silver screen.
