From Dardanelle take Hwy 27 west. Turn right on 307, when you come to a small fire station, turn right and go past the Chickalah Mountain Church, following the road around a bend to the cemetery. This cemetery is well taken care of. Where possible, we have updated this page to include any corrections and additions to listings. Source information for these additions and corrections came from the Social Security Death Index. Copied and updated 22 Apr 1992 by Marilyn Roberts and Cornelia Daniels. Six graves walled up and covered with large native stones. There is carving on the headstones but impossible to read. MYRTLE OLIVE COWSERT
      November 27, 1913
Obituary: Myrtle Olive Cowsert was born March 12, 1896, died November 16, 1913, aged 17 years 8 months and 4 days.
Myrtle had been in ill health for six years, but she bore her sufferings with patience and afflictions with a Christian fotitude characteristic of one much older than herself.
Her family and friends gathered around her bedside from day to day and did all in human power to give comfort to her declining hours. Myrtle was not only loved by her relations, but by the many good neighbors and friends for miles around.
Myrtle leaves a father, mother, and one sister and three brothers, besides a host of friends to mourn her departure.

This listing of burials in a Colorado cemetery is a listing of only the burials where the headstone, or an associated marker, has an indication that the person belonged to one of the following organizations, or was a relative of the person who belonged to the organization. It is not meant to suggest that it is a complete listing of everyone buried in the cemetery, nor a listing of everyone from those organizations who is buried in the cemetery. For the most part the organizations began putting the identification on the tombstones in about 1880 and quit about 1935, though a few are occasionally seen with later death dates. Abbreviations WOW = Woodmen of the World MWA = Modern Woodmen of America Women = Women of Woodcraft Neigh = Neighbor of Woodcraft WC = Woodmen Circle SFWC = Supreme Forest Woodmen Circle * Upright stump. # Fancy horizontal sandstone log + Other odd shapes, ie., urns, balls, pillars

This is an old cemetery and some of the stones very hard to read. In a few cases I used the information from the book "Of Grave Importance" by The Baxter County Historical Society - 1994. In some cases I've put information from an obituary, other wise the information is from the tombstones. In an undertaking like this there seems to always be mistakes. I apologize for missed stones and misspelled names. By: Vera (Lane) Reeves Acheson, Delia Meland (shares stone with Maj Robert) 10 Apr 1911 17 Jul 1979
