Íà÷àâ øêîëüíûå çàíÿòèÿ ó èåçóèòîâ â Íåàïîëå, Òîðêâàòî â 1554 ã. óåõàë â Ðèì, ãäå íàõîäèëñÿ îòåö. Òàì â 1556 ã. åãî çàñòàëî èçâåñòèå î ñìåðòè ìàòåðè, è â ñåíòÿáðå ýòîãî æå ãîäà îòåö îòïðàâèë åãî â Áåðãàìî ê ñâîèì ðîäíûì, à ãîä ñïóñòÿ çàáðàë ìàëü÷èêà â Óðáèíî, ãäå îí ñàì îêàçàëñÿ íà ñëóæáå ó ãåðöîãà âèäóáàëüäî II äåëëà Ðîâåðå. Çäåñü Òîðêâàòî ïîëó÷àë îáðàçîâàíèå âìåñòå ñ ìàëîëåòíèì êíÿçåì Ôðàí÷åñêî Ìàðèåé è âïåðâûå ïîïðîáîâàë ñåáÿ íà ëèòåðàòóðíîì ïîïðèùå, ñëåäóÿ îáðàçöàì ïðèäâîðíîé ëèòåðàòóðû è, â ïåðâóþ î÷åðåäü, íà «Ïðèäâîðíîãî» Êàñòèëüîíå.  1559 ã. îí îòïðàâèëñÿ çà îòöîì â Âåíåöèþ, ãäå íà÷àë ïèñàòü ïîýìó î ïåðâîì êðåñòîâîì ïîõîäå - "Gierusalemme", - êîòîðàÿ ñòàëà ïåðâûì íàáðîñêîì åãî áóäóùåãî øåäåâðà. Ñ íîÿáðÿ 1560 ã. Òîðêâàòî æèâåò â Ïàäóå, ãäå âíà÷àëå èçó÷àåò þðèñïðóäåíöèþ, íî âñêîðå ïåðåõîäèò ê çàíÿòèÿì ôèëîñîôèåé è êðàñíîðå÷èåì. Êðîìå òåñíûõ îòíîøåíèé ñ óíèâåðñèòåòñêèìè ïðîôåññîðàìè, åãî øèðîêóþ êóëüòóðó è èíòåðåñ ê ôèëîñîôèè Ïëàòîíà è Àðèñòîòåëÿ âî ìíîãîì îïðåäåëèëè îòíîøåíèÿ ñ "Accademia degli Infiammati" è Ñïåðîíå Ñïåðîíè. Ñëåäóÿ ïðèìåðó îòöà (îïóáëèêîâàâøåãî â Âåíåöèè ðûöàðñêóþ ïîýìó èç 100 ïåñåí ïîä íàçâàíèåì «Àìàäèäæè»), îí ñîçäàåò ðûöàðñêóþ ïîýìó «Ðèíàëüäî», îïóáëèêîâàííóþ òàêæå â Âåíåöèè â 1562 ã. (Ëèòåðàòîðû òîãî âðåìåíè, ÷òîáû îòëè÷àòü åãî îò îòöà, íà÷àëà íàçûâàòü åãî «ìàëåíüêèé Òàññî» - Tassino). Ñ íîÿáðÿ 1562 ã. îí ïîñåùàåò Áîëîíñêèé óíèâåðñèòåò, êîòîðûé âûíóæäåí îñòàâèòü â ÿíâàðå 1564 ã. ïî îáâèíåíèþ â òîì, ÷òî íàïèñàë îñêîðáèòåëüíóþ ñàòèðó ïðîòèâ ñòóäåíòîâ è ïðåïîäàâàòåëåé. Îí âîçâðàòèëñÿ â Ïàäóþ, ãäå áûë ïðèíÿò â "Accademia degli Eterei" ïîä èìåíåì «Ðàñêàÿâøåãîñÿ» (Pentito).

SCHED A TORQUATO TASSO TORQUATO TASSO E IL RINASCIMENTO TASSO TORQUATO (11 marzo 1544- 25 aprile 1595) Importante figura di letterato del XVI secolo, egli più di tutti, nelle sue opere, espresse le tensioni che percorrevano la società del suo tempo e quindi la società della Controriforma. Nacque a Sorrento ed ebbe una vita travagliata ed errabonda, ad eccezione di qualche periodo più sereno. Tormentato fu il suo rapporto con la corte che egli conobbe per aver vissuto soprattutto a Ferrara dove entrò nel 1565 al servizio del duca d’Este. L'11 marzo 1579, giorno del suo trentacinquesimo compleanno, in un attacco di follia, prima in casa Bentivoglio poi al castello dei Gonzaga fu porato all'ospedale di Sant'anna, e messo alla catena come pazzo. Fino alla sua morte il poeta visse in un continuo alternarsi di follia e lucidità. Mentre era ricoverato, l'anno dopo, 1580, fu Angelo Ingegneri, che aveva prestato un aiuto al poeta, a dare alle stampe il suo massimo poema, una a Parma e una a Casalmaggiore, e a lui si deve il titolo di Gerusalemma Liberata. Nel periodo di attività del Tasso, la produzione culturale nell'ambito della letteratura ma anche delle arti figurative, subisce un profondo mutamento nelle forme e nelle tematiche, dovuto principalmente agli effetti prodotti dal Concilio tridentino e dalla crescente affermazione degli ideali controriformistici. La diffusione degli ordinamenti morali e religiosi stabiliti nel concilio è destinata ad avere profonde conseguenze anche sul piano socio-politico e quindi, necessariamente, anche nei rapporti che si vengono a creare tra l'artista e il potere. Si fa infatti sentire maggiormente l'autorità del signore sulla produzione artistica e ricevono grande impulso i rigori della censura ecclesiastica.

PAGE 10 Joseph Haydn With the near servant-indenturement that was the patronage of the aristocracy, Joseph Haydn spent much of his life in service to the Esterhazy court in Austria Esterhazy Palace Eisenstadt, Austria The summer palace of the Esterhazy Princes included an opera theatre, and Haydn produced many works there, many of them his own compositions. One of the last great opera seria composed was Haydn's L'anima del filosofo , a setting of the Orpheus story. With the death of Prince Nikolaus Esterhazy Haydn's obligations to the court were much reduced and he was allowed to travel. This work was written for the London stage, but never produced.
