What Every Public Safety Officer Should Know About Radiation and Radioactive Materials
Don’t let the title fool you. The information in a new brochure titled "What Every Public Safety Officer Should Know about Radiation and Radioactive Materials," is not for public safety officers, alone. Everyone can learn something from this publication. Topics of the brochure include the different types of radiation, contamination and natural and man-made sources of radiation. There’s even a brief description of what a "dirty bomb" is, which we hear about often on the news. The brochure was developed in a collaborative effort by the Law Enforcement Technology Support Center at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Savannah River Technology Center and the U.S. Department of Justice’s National Institute of Justice.
