(A paper for, or an address to, the Association for the Study of Classical African Civilization) By Yosef A.A. ben-Jochannan , H.P., O.E.E.A./4 Elder of A.S.C.A.C. Prelude It is wisely written by a sensitively rare type European scholar who accompanied the French Imperial Colonial Forces under the control of General Napoleon de Boneparte the following: THERE A PEOPLE NOW FORGOTTEN DISCOVERED WHILE OTHERS WERE YET BARBARIANS, THE ELEMENTS OF THE ARTS AND SCIENCES. A RACE OF MEN NOW REJECTED FOR THEIR BLACK SKIN AND WOOLLY HAIR, FOUNDED ON THE STUDY OF THE LAWS OF NATURE THOSE CIVIL AND RELIGIOUS SYSTEMS WHICH STILL GOVERN THE UNIVERSE. THIS QUOTATION IS EXTRACTED FROM PAGE XVII OF Count C.F. Volney's masterpiece of the 19 th Century C.C. Ruins of Empire. However flattering this may seem, Volney never one time in any of his many writings called for the withdrawal of French Imperial Forces from Africa . I guess it was this vile type of hypocrisy that caused our late sage, philosopher and African Nationalist Freedom Fighter, etc.—MARCUS MOZIAH GARVEY —to caution all of us meeting here to KNOW OUR OWN ENEMIES when he wrote the following PHILOSOPHICAL THOUGHT about just what is an education!

In Pursuit of George G. M. James' Study of African Origins in "Western Civilization" By Yosef A. A. ben-Jochannan JAMES REVIVED Count C.F. Volney, an eighteenth century C.E. French academician of the highest esteem in European academic circles, wrote the following in his major work— Ruins of Empire , page xvii, for all the racists who denied the indigenous African origin of the ancient Egyptians to read: THERE A PEOPLE NOW FORGOTTEN DISCOVERED WHILE OTHER WERE YET BARBARIANS, THE ELEMENTS OF THE ARTS AND SCIENCES. A RACE OF MEN NOW REJECTED FOR THEIR BLACK SKIN and WOOLY HAIR FOUNDED ON THE STUDY OF THE LAWS OF NATURE THOSE CIVIL AND RELIGIOUS SYSTEMS WHICH STILL GOVERN THE UNIVERSE. Isn't it rather interesting that today BLACK has become "SABLE," and WOOLLY turned "FRIZZLED" in the quotation! BLACK and WOOLLY are stated in the original edition; whereas Volney's successors found it necessary to change them in a later edition to "SABLE" and "FRIZZLED," etc. This, unfortunately, has been too long typical of " Western Scholarship Previous to the publication of Volney's Ruins of Empire the following appeared in the Sixth Century C.E.

86. Egypt
The French writer Count CF Volney, in his important work, The Ruins of Empires, extends this point of view by saying that the Egyptians were the first people

Egypt
The Ethiopians say that the Egyptians were one of their colonies which was brought into Egypt by the deity Osiris. The Greek writer Herodotus repeatedly referred to the Egyptians as being dark-skinned people with woolly hair. "They," he says, "have the same tint of skin which approaches that of the Ethiopians." The opinion of the ancient writers on the Egyptians is more or less summed up by Gaston Maspero (1846–1916) when he says, "By the almost unanimous testimony of ancient historians, they [the Egyptians] belong to an African race which first settled in Ethiopia on the Middle Nile: following the course of the river they gradually reached the sea." "The Greek writer, Herodotus, may be mistaken," Cheikh Anta Diop tells us, "when he reports the customs of a people. But one must grant that he was at least capable of recognizing the skin color of the inhabitants of countries he visited." His descriptions of the Egyptians were the descriptions of a Black people. At this point the reader needs to be reminded of the fact that at the time of Herodotus's visit to Egypt and other parts of Africa (between 480 and 425 B.C.) Egypt's Golden Age was over. Egypt had suffered from several invasions, mainly the Kushite invasions, coming from within Africa, and starting in 751 B.C., and the Assyrians' invasions from Western Asia (called the Middle East), starting in 671 B.C. If Egypt, after years of invasions by other people and nations was a distinct Black African nation at the time of Herodotus, shouldn't we at least assume that it was more so before these invasions occurred?

http://wwwamb.casaccia.enea.it/chm-cbd/pros/Rekaik.html
THE BEDOUIN OF THE NEGEV Historical background Ibraheem Abu Rekaik The Bedouin of the Negev are Arabs and as such originating in the Arab peninsula. Their name (in Arabic Badawi, pl. Badoo) derives from the Arab word for desert = badie, thus denoting an inhabitant of the desert. Since earliest history, Arab tribes tried to leave their inhospitable homeland and to settle in more accommodating surroundings, being sometimes more or less successful in their endeavours. In the Bible, we read about the Jewish king Uzziah, who fortified his southern borderland against trespassing tribes, we know about the "limes arabicus", the fortifications, which the Romans erected in approximately the same places as king Uzziah, against the Arabs, who tried to invade Roman Palestine. Only in the beginning of the seventh century, after the death of Mohammed, the founder of Islam, many tribes left the Arab peninsula and with the help of the conquering Muslim armies settled all over the Middle East, in Africa north of the Sahara and even temporarily in the Iberian peninsula, crossing at Gibraltar into Europe. However, in spite of an Arab general (‘Amer ibn As, nicknamed Abu Hureira) conquering (635 AD) Beer Sheva, the Negev was left many years without a permanent population worth mentioning. Count Constantin Francois Volney, according to his book "Voyages en Syrie et Egypt" (Paris - 1785), coming from Jerusalem, travels first from Beth Govrin (halfway between Hebron and Ashkalon) to Gaza. On his way, near Tel el Hessi in the Northern Negev, he finds a Bedouin encampment of the Djubarat tribe; later, in the dunes near Ashdod, he visits a small encampment of Bedouin, also belonging to the Djubarat confederation, both groups left during the war of 1948 for the Gaza strip, from where they came originally.
