The annual ICTAI conference is an international forum for the exchange of ideas relating to artificial intelligence (AI) among academia, industry, and government agencies. It fosters the creation and transfer of such ideas, and promotes their cross-fertilization over all AI application domains and AI paradigms through a unifying theme: AI Tools. ICTAI focuses on both theory and developing, implementing, and evaluating theoretical and applied frameworks that may serve as tools for developing intelligent systems and pursuing AI applications. Following are some example topics of interest:
AI Algorithms AI in Software Engineering Cognitive Modeling Collaborative Software Agents Fuzzy Logic and Reasoning Under Uncertainty Genetic Algorithms Intelligent tutoring/Training Systems Intelligent Internet Agents Intelligent Interface Agents Environmental Applications AI in Data Mining Intelligent Information Retrieval

John Lennon Artificial Intelligence Project (JLAIP)
John Lennon Artificial Intelligence Project (JLAIP) is recreating the personality of the late Beatle, John Lennon, by programming an Artificial Intelligence (AI) engine with his own words and thoughts. Triumph PC's breakthroughs take the field of AI to an entirely new level, thus making Persona-Bots (robots inhabited with unique and authentic "human" personalities) possible and further blurring the precarious line between man and machine. • (longer version of a paper published in Philosophy of Science in Florence edited by M.L.Dalla Chiara, R. Giuntini, L. Laudisa, forthcoming - Acts of The tenth International Congress of Logic, Methodology and Philosophy of Science, Florence, August 1995] . In the discussion on semantic holism it has been claimed that A.I. is almost entirely holistic. In this paper I show that some of the main lines of research in symbolic artificial intelligence are not holistic; I will consider three classical cases: toy words, frames and contextual reasoning. I claim that these examples from A.I. can be interpreted as implementing molecularist intuitions about language. Eventually I suggest that some assumptions behind the discussion on holism should be re-interpreted, expecially the usual references to Frege and Wittgenstein.[1] 0. Talking Washing Machine at CeBit - 16th March, 2003
    Posted by James Matthews
this rather interesting article about a speech-enabled washing machine. Called Hermine, the washing machine can be told what garments are being washed, and it selects the best cycle. Additionally, it can take commands like "press wash at 60 degrees celsius". The rather amusing thing is that the manufacturers have tried to give it a personality. If you give it a garment with a red wine stain, it suggests you try beer since it is easier to wash out. Give it diapers and it yelps!
