SQL Pretty Printer
The Pretty Printer takes SQL statements as the input and then presents it in a structured way complete with proper indentation for sub clauses and capitalization of keywords. It is implemented with using of our SQL parsing technology. There is a tool at Novosoft called SQL parser. It completes syntax parsing of DML (data manipulation language) statements for ORACLE v8 and DB2 v6 SQL dialects. These statements include INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE and SELECT statements. It also can parse certain DDL (data definition) statements such as CREATE TABLE and CREATE VIEW. The tool is used over three years in commercial product. Pretty Printer just demonstrates the ease of use of our SQL parser. It can be integrated with many other tools since the key idea is to present the statements parsed in a generic, dialect-independent internal format (abstract syntax tree). Demo is set by default for syntax parsing of DML statements for and DB2 v6 SQL dialects.

New SQL Server Performance Tip Update

For the most reliable results when using Performance Monitor to track SQL Server and other related server counters, use Performance Monitor's Log Mode. This allows you to collect counter data over a period of time. If you are monitoring for periods of less than eight hours, begin by collecting information every 15 to 60 seconds. What SQL Server will do is to average the readings of the time period you select. So the longer the time interval you choose, the more "average" the data becomes. This is not normally a problem when collecting log data over time as your goal here is to identify trends. But keep in mind, that average data hides extremes, which may or may not be useful to you.
Of course, if you are trying to analyze a very specific issue that occurs in a relatively short period of time (say, less than one hour), then you might want to set the time period of 1 second, which will allow you to see and analyze activity in detail.
If you want to collect data for longer periods (such as a week or month), you may want to try to collect information somewhere between 300 and 600 seconds. If you sample the data too frequently, especially for long periods, the amount of data collected will be huge. On the other hand, if you collect information too infrequently, then you may miss important detail. You may have to experiment with various collection intervals until you come up with one that is best for your circumstances. [6.5, 7.0, 2000]

This page contains information about WWW-SQL, which is a program written by me ( James Henstridge ). It is used to display information from MySQL or PostgreSQL databases in web pages. It does this with a simple embeded scripting language. The commands are embedded in special HTML tags, so it should be passible to edit the document with an HTML editor. The tags are evaluated when the page is loaded, so the resultant page will be HTML compliant (assuming the original was mostly compliant).
