Science is a body of knowledge that accumulates over generations. Even when an individual reaches the wrong conclusions, he or she paves the way for those who follow. (Albert Einstein swept aside many of the theories of Isaac Newton, but if there had never been a Newton, there never could have been an Einstein.) Treatise Paleo Contributions PaleoBank Staff ... Manuals for Coordinating Authors Since its inception in the late 1940s, the aim of the Treatise on Invertebrate Paleontology has been to present a comprehensive and authoritative yet compact statement of knowledge concerning groups of invertebrate fossils. Professor Raymond C. Moore, the project's founder, envisaged the Treatise as ultimately comprising three hefty volumes with a total of some 3,000 pages. The Treatise, expanding in fifty years beyond Moore's wildest dream, now comprises 41 volumes, involves the work of more than 300 authors worldwide, and occupies more than 1.3 meters of shelf space. Another dozen or so volumes are in various stages of preparation, and scarcely a month goes by in which the editor does not receive a tentative feeler from a paleontologist offering to revise a previous, now-outdated volume. Professor Moore concluded his 1951 report to the Geological Society of America's Council with the words, "The Treatise progresses." His words are as true today as they were then. Discusses issues of creation/evolution including areas of anthropology, geology, the global/local flood, paleontology and theology from the perspective of a Christian who adheres to commonly accepted evolutionary theory and seeks to harmonize it with the Bible. What they are saying about these views
I am not a Christian myself, but I thought your [article] was excellent. It should be required reading for all creationists.-AM March 8,1996 "As a former card carrying ICR member I appreciate your candor and intellectual honesty in your search for truth and rejection of YEC pseudo-science. I just can't believe I used to hold such nonsense. It was true a deliverance to have escaped such warped thinking. The hold YEC doctrines had on me was almost cult like." B. T. April 20, 1999 You have a number of unique or unusual proposals that would be helpful for people to consider who are trying to think through the origins questions. I am especially glad that you are trying to treat both science and Scripture with integrity.- Physicist and Theologian July, 1995 Excellent presentation! - Theologian April, 1995

Division of Invertebrate Paleontology
The Division of Invertebrate Paleontology houses one of the largest collections in the Museum. It is currently estimated that there are about 7.5 million specimens in this collection.
The type collection contains all ranks of type specimens, including about 250 holotypes and numerous topotype, paratype, and hypotype specimens. One of the divisional goals is to develop stratigraphic collections of Late Paleozoic and Cretaceous fos sils of the midcontinent. Type specimens have been placed in the collection by University of Nebraska researchers or other researchers who have selected Nebraska as a repository.
The systematic collection is curated according to the higher taxa recognized mostly in the Treatise on Invertebrate Paleontology. It contains representative fossils of all of the major extinct and extant taxa spanning geologic time from Precambrian through Pleistocene. A large part of this collection is used for teaching purposes in the Department of Geology. Most of the systematic collection was built up before 1960 by Museum staff and it has not grown significantly since.
The stratigraphic collections of Late Paleozoic and Cretaceous invertebrates were built up largely by personnel from the Nebraska Geological Survey, which was responsible for this collection until about 1960 when it transferred to the Museum. The bi ostratigraphic and paleoecological data within this collection are too important to break up and place within the systematic collections. Type specimens from this collection are transferred to the type collections as they are found.
