Welcome to my homepage I hope you have a nice visit. I'm thabigdaddy online a.k.a. Matthew in real life. This is my personal homepage that deals will deal with everything that is thabigdaddy . Some of the topics may be a little touchy (i.e. abuse, mental illness), but nothing pornographic. Besides you really don't want to see me naked. If you like what you see or have a comment send me some mail. If not go on your way. Right now I'm a college student attending Edinboro University of Pa . for Computer Science. That's right I'm a computer geek and I love it. I love all things computer and technology related. Most times my nose is in my monitor or a book or magazine related to computers. I currently live in Erie, Pa, but will be moving out to Edinboro, Pa in the near future. As you may have realized I have a mental illness. There is more on that under my life story link at the top. I'm disabled and trying to recover from my illness to be able to succeed in life. I'm not doing too bad with that right now, but I still have a ways to go. It would help if I was on Social Security, but apparently I'm too young to be disabled. At least that's what our government keeps telling me. What a bunch of crap, but that's government. I have a good deal of gripes so you'll probably see a page of my thoughts soon. It should be interesting. If I find the time I'll also be adding a movie review page. Well I guess that's the basics. If you want to talk send

43. New Findings In Diagnosis
Article by John F. Alston, M.D.
Correlation Between Bipolar Disorder and Reactive Attachment Disorder By John F. Alston, M.D. Historically, mental health professionals have long associated Attention Deficit Disorder with Reactive Attachment Disorder. It is true that children who have been abused and/or neglected do have attentional problems secondary to their abusive circumstances or brain maturational problems. Experts have put this correlation of ADD and RAD (Reactive Attachment Disorder) at between 40% and 70% for either abused/neglected children and/or adopted children. In my experience as psychiatric consultant to the Attachment Center at Evergreen since 1977, as well as within my own private practice and consultations with other attachment programs and adoption agencies in which I supervise psychotherapists who work with attachment disorders, I have come to realize that Attention Deficit Disorder is vastly overdiagnosed in this clinical population, leading to inadequate, even contraindicated treatment. I have concluded that correlations between Bipolar Disorder and Reactive Attachment Disorder are indeed much more common. This conclusion has led to different, and in my experience, much more effective medical treatment plans for these children. I have reached the above conclusion gradually over the last several years. In the past twenty five years, since my graduation from medical school, I have diagnosed and treated approximately 3,500 cases of ADD and approximately 1,000 cases of Bipolar Disorder. Particularly in my role as a consultant to The Attachment Center at Evergreen program, it has been my professional privilege and pleasure to assess and treat children from all over the United States and at least a few foreign countries. In my experience, this miscorrelation between ADD and Reactive Attachment Disorder is international.

Who Are We?/¿Quiénes Somos?
After the Diet™ is dedicated to helping humans overcome eating problems. We emphasize the word "human" because there is no such thing as perfect eating. When the pursuit of perfection becomes the focus of life, we lose the ability to be productive, loving, and involved in the world around us. We prefer to put the focus on a balance between healthy eating, exercise, and relationships with others. After the Diet™ se dedica a ayudando a problemas con problemas alimentarios. Ponemos énfasis en la palabra "humano" porque no existe una manera de comer perfectamente. Cuando perfección es el foco de la vida, se nos perdemos la habilidad de estar productivos, amorosos, y interesados en el mundo alrededor nosotros. 47. Bipolar Disorder - The Mercurial Mind
Mental Health Net 4Stars! 8/16/98. What does bipolar disorder feel like? How do mentalhealth professionals determine whether or not you have bipolar disorder?
What does bipolar disorder feel like? How does manic depression affect the lives of people who have it, and those who care about them? How do mental health professionals determine whether or not you have bipolar disorder? Finally, the answers to these questions and more, in plain language. Studies say that 1% of the world's population has bipolar disorder. That leaves the other 99% wondering why the heck we're so moody, angry, sad, explosive, tearful, etc. We are a mystery to the majority of people on this planet. This situation can leave the bipolar person feeling very lonely and alienated, and the people in their lives confused, hurt, and angry. I hope that this site will help a few people reach better understanding of themselves or someone they care about.

Billy Joel
I'm a forty-something woman who has been diagnosed with Bipolar Affective Disorder, Type One. My depressions are profoundly deep, and I have moderately severe manic attacks. I was initially diagnosed when I was 35, and at the age of 39, I was declared disabled by this condition. Although bipolar disorder can be successfully treated with medications, I've never had much success maintaining a middle ground. Most of the time, I'm either manic, depressed, or both simultaneously. I am also a "rapid cycler," meaning that I can bounce from a depressed state to a manic one and back several times within a year. There are all kinds of resources on the internet which are available to tell you, from a medical perspective, what bipolar disorder is. I'm not going to try to re-invent the wheel - I'll leave the medical stuff to the professionals. My goal in writing this page is to share how this illness affects me as an individual. How does it feel? What impact does it have on my relationships and other aspects of my life? If even one fellow sufferer comes away from these pages feeling a little less alone, I'll have accomplished something meaningful. Please keep in mind that these are strictly my personal experiences, observations and feelings. Others with bipolar disorder may have very different experiences with their illness.

Geodon / Ziprasidone - Antipsychotic Bipolar Medication Profile Medications Index Medications A-Z
The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the antipsychotic medication Geodon (ziprasidone) early in 2001 for treatment of schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder. The most exciting aspect of adding this medication to the schizophrenia / bipolar arsenal is that unlike earlier antipsychotics, Geodon is not associated with weight gain. In a six-week head-to-head study between Zyprexa (olanzapine) and Geodon, it was found that while the two medications performed equally well in alleviating psychotic symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, paranoia and withdrawal. However, the Zyprexa patients' median weight gain over the six weeks was ten pounds, while Geodon patients gained less than one pound. In line with this finding, Zyprexa patients saw significant increases in cholesterol and other blood fats, while Geodon patients lipid profiles remained stable. These results suggest that not only is Geodon a healthier alternative, but also patients may be less inclined to stop taking it on their own due to problem weight gain.

    What is Bipolar Illness?
Table Of Contents The bipolar disorders are mood disorders. That means that amongst other things, there is a major change in mood. In bipolar disorders, this change in mood can be down, as in depression, or the opposite, mania. That is, a person can be inappropriately up. Some types of bipolar disorder have a lot of depression and only a little mania. Others have half and half. Still others seem to be both manic and depressed at the same time. Some people with bipolar disorders only have a few cycles of depression and mania. Others have many cycles a year. When bipolar illness is present in children and adolescents, it is more severe and harder to treat than when it occurs in adults. Pediatric Bipolar illness is one of the most severe conditions in pediatrics. In the milder forms, it can be disabling. In the severe forms, it can be lethal. The prognosis cancers in pediatrics is better than many forms of bipolar illness. All bipolar disorders are a combination of mania with or without depression. So what is mania? Here are the official criteria:
