Welcome to the Cheney Clinic Information Service or CCIS, an Internet accessible information service with current information on research, diagnosis and management of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS).
Our Mission
The mission of the Cheney Clinic Information Service (CCIS) is to construct a system that will leverage quality patient care in the form of vital information and to dispense it to as wide an audience as possible. The resource to be leveraged is not only the time and energy of talented physicians but also the current best thinking or knowledge base on a particular aspect of patient care. In the case of chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), the problem is particularly acute due to the scarcity of knowledgeable physicians and the very large number of CFS patients marginalized by either distance from quality care or their inability to afford it.

Five years ago I was suffering from full-fledged Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I was in a constant fog, had constant ringing in my ears, sinus problems, pain in the joints, a sore throat, and a persistent jock rash. My body temperature was 97.2°f. I had severe gastrointestinal problems. Sexually, I had little feeling. Today, my energy level is not normal, but it is much closer. The ringing in my ears, pain in the joints and sore throat are a distant memory. My body temperature is much better. It isn't normal yet, but it is getting there.

According to a November 1996 Journal of American Medical Association report, 100 million Americans are suffering from a chronic illness - from chronic fatigue syndrome to cancer. Whatever the origin or origins of the increase of these illnesses- or the appearance of new ones- a solution to the problem must be found. We continue to strive to use this web site to disseminate information from sources to solutions. As we see it, discovery leads to diagnostics that drive therapeutics. The cooperation of scientists, healthcare providers, manufacturers and regulatory agencies is required.

every CFS, CFIDS and Fibromyalgia sufferer
from Dr. Poesnecker I realize that many, if not most of you have been told there is no effective treatment for your condition. That you must just "learn to live with it." Our experience has demonstrated otherwise. The underlying causes of these conditions are known and so also are effective treatments. While we have no magic cure, with the cooperation of the individual, we have been able to return thousands of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, CFIDS and Fibromyalgia patients to active productive lives by the methods we have developed and taught over the last forty-five years. We can also help you if you are ready to start living once again. Below you will find links to many articles describing the methods we use to help individuals successfully overcome these devastating and humiliating conditions. Once you have had an opportunity to puruse these, the next step on your road to recovery is to take an Adrenal Stress Index test (ASI) from DiagnosTech labs of Seattle, Washington. We have tried many other labs, but this is the only one whose results have been really useful in helping our patients. Concurrent with taking the ASI test you should be studying

    How common is chronic fatigue?
Feeling tired is common. One in five men, and one in three women will say they feel tired most of the time. If you work long hours, have family problems, and are suffering from stress, it is quite common to feel tired. However, only a few people really have the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Another name for the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is Myalgic Encephalitis (or ME for short).
Definition of the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
    CFS is defined as -
"Severe disabling fatigue which lasts at least 6 months, made worse by minimal physical or mental exertion, and for which there is no adequate medical explanation."
    Criteria for diagnosis
Here are guidelines for diagnosing Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
    • A feeling of fatigue (severe tiredness) is the main symptom
    • There is a definite time when it began, and not a lifelong feeling of tiredness

WHAT IS FIBROMYALGIA SYNDROME? FMS (fibromyalgia syndrome) is a widespread musculoskeletal pain and fatigue disorder for which the cause is still unknown. Fibromyalgia means pain in the muscles, ligaments and tendonsthe fibrous tissues in the body. FMS used to be called fibrositis, implying that there was inflammation in the muscles, but research later proved that inflammation did not exist. Most patients with fibromyalgia say that they ache all over. Their muscles may feel like they have been pulled or overworked. Sometimes the muscles twitch and at other times they burn. More women than men are afflicted with fibromyalgia, but it shows up in people of all ages.

Come in. Welcome to my home.
Glad you could come. Why don't you have a seat in that chair, if you'd like. I'll pour you a cup of tea and we can talk. This is a safe place and you can relax. It can be pretty frustrating out there to say the least. I'm a retired physician. I practiced medicine for 20 years before I got sick. And then I found my learning had just begun. A dysfunctional health care system. Bewildering alternative medicine. Endless mind boggling stuff on the internet. Disability. I've been there. I went to a lot of doctors, but I learned nothing from them about this subject. Doctors are very good at treating acute illnesses like an injury, but they are poorly trained to cope with many chronic illnesses such as this. I started learning from the internet, but it was slow because most of the material was useless and confusing. I was looking for things that would help, and not a lot of theories. Now, after many years of research, I want to offer you what I didn't get, and I think you deserve. A strategy that is clear, to the point, and step by step. One thing that I can tell you for sure, is that everybody is different. There are lot's and lot's of things that can go wrong to make a person sick. So what works for one person may not work for another.

Introduction : Welcome to my Website on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome ( CFS, CFIDS, ME, M.E ) . The site contains over 200 research publications on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome ( CFS ) collected out of different medical journals. The goal of the website is to bring together all recent information on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome ( CFS ).
The site will be updated regularly, at least once a month.
About Chronic Fatigue Syndrome: Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is a very mysterious disease and often very hard to diagnose.Until a solid marker is found, the diagnosis to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome ( CFS ) is mostly a long way of exclusion. I hope this will change in the near future.
Now lot's of CFS patients are often not taken seriously and neglected because 'the scientists' can't find what's wrong, although we have very serious symptoms and are often disabled to a certain level, sometimes even almost completely bedridden.
