I am a female Vietnam Era U. S. Air Force Veteran who served from 1962 to 1966 under the maiden name of Larmore. After completing Basic Training at Lackland (January 1963), I was stationed with the 3201st Air Base Wing WAF Squadron at Eglin AFB, Florida. In 1965 I was selected as the Fire Prevention Queen for the base. My last assignment before receiving a medical discharge was in Air Operations at Eglin.
Prior to entry into the Air Force, I graduated from Samuel Ready Girls' School, Baltimore, MD. Before that I attended Wicomico County Public Schools including Nanticoke Elementary School from which my mother had graduated. After discharge from the Air Force, I moved to Towson, Maryland and began attending Johns Hopkins University Summer School. There was a slight 9 month interruption along the way. His link can be found below. Eventually, I graduated from Randolph-Macon Woman's College, Lynchburg, Virginia in 1979.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
What is Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?
We all get tired. Many of us at times have felt depressed. But the mystery known as chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is not like the normal ups and downs we experience in everyday life. The early sign of this illness is a strong and noticeable fatigue that comes on suddenly and often comes and goes or never stops. You feel too tired to do normal activities or are easily exhausted with no apparent reason. Unlike the mind fog of a serious hangover, to which researchers have compared CFS, the profound weakness of CFS does not go away with a few good nights of sleep. Instead, it slyly steals your energy and vigor over months and sometimes years.
How CFS Begins and Its Symptoms
For many people, CFS begins after a bout with a cold, bronchitis, hepatitis, or an intestinal bug. For some, it follows a bout of infectious mononucleosis, or mono, which temporarily saps the energy of many teenagers and young adults. Often, people say that their illnesses started during a period of high stress. In others, CFS develops more gradually, with no clear illness or other event starting it.
Unlike flu symptoms, which usually go away in a few days or weeks, CFS symptoms either hang on or come and go frequently for more than six months. CFS symptoms include:

Site includes articles about the Alexander Technique and Yoga, Martial Arts, Physiotherapy, chronic fatigue syndrome and other topics.

ATA Northern Districts is a collective of fully qualified Alexander Teachers who live and work in the local area. Each Teacher has completed a 3 year full-time training course and all of the ATA~ND Teachers are members of AUSTAT - The Australian Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique. The Alexander Technique is a valuable skill that can significantly enhance your wellbeing. It is a proven technique for reducing muscular tension and stress and because of its fundamental premise of mind-body unity it is a powerful tool for self-development. For more information read the articles provided on this site. Private lessons or groups are usual when beginning the work and a set of around ten lessons is recommended to gain a basic understanding of the skillset. However, any skill worth acquiring takes some time, effort and patience and like anything, you can choose to keep learning and improving - and the Alexander Technique can give you the skills to do that for yourself! The chair is a favourite tool used by Alexander Teachers. That's because sitting and standing are very common activities that require a good deal of coordination. Working with ordinary and mundane movements such as this helps us to quickly observe the underlying habits of movement and tension that govern the way we 'use' ourselves. In the Alexander work, observation is critical. You will learn to observe yourself and others in a whole new way. Alexander said about this "The problems that don't exist are the hardest to get rid of"

The Chronic Fatigue Syndrome: A Comprehensive Approach to Its Definition and Study
Abstract of the paper on a New Case Definition for CFS 1994
The complexities of the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and the methodologic problems associated with its study indicate the need for a comprehensive, systematic, and integrated approach to the evaluation, classification, and study of persons with this condition and other fatiguing illnesses. We propose a conceptual framework and a set of guidelines that provide such an approach. Our guidelines include recommendations for the clinical evaluation of fatigued persons, a revised case definition of the chronic fatigue syndrome, and a strategy for sub grouping fatigued persons in formal investigations.

Magnesium is a must. The diets of all Americans are likely to be deficient........Even a mild deficiency causes sensitiveness to noise, nervousness, irritability, mental depression, confusion, twitching, trembling, apprehension, insomnia, muscle weakness and cramps in the toes, feet, legs, or fingers. Adelle Davis, writing in Let's Have Healthy Children Read my Magnesium (Mg) is a trace mineral that is known to be required for several hundred different functions in the body. A significant portion of the symptoms of many chronic disorders are identical to symptoms of magnesium deficiency. Studies show many people in the U.S. today do not consume the daily recommended amounts of Mg. A lack of this important nutrient may be a major factor in many common health problems in industrialized countries. Common conditions such as mitral valve prolapse, migraines, attention deficit disorder, fibromyalgia, asthma and allergies

How common is chronic fatigue?
Feeling tired is common. One in five men, and one in three women will say they feel tired most of the time. If you work long hours, have family problems, and are suffering from stress, it is quite common to feel tired. However, only a few people really have the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Another name for the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is Myalgic Encephalitis (or ME for short).
Definition of the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
CFS is defined as -
"Severe disabling fatigue which lasts at least 6 months, made worse by minimal physical or mental exertion, and for which there is no adequate medical explanation."
Criteria for diagnosis
Here are guidelines for diagnosing Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
  • A feeling of fatigue (severe tiredness) is the main symptom
  • There is a definite time when it began, and not a lifelong feeling of tiredness
