MagCal-Ionic is a dietary supplement of ionic calcium and magnesium that helps relieve cramps, backaches, stress, sleep disorders, muscle cramps, leg cramps, and stiff joints.
At Mag-I-Cal.com emphasis is placed on specific nutrition supplementation with regards to calcium and magnesium and the importance of these two elements regarding cramps, night leg cramps, restless legs and other health maladies such as backaches, osteoporosis, brittle bones, bone growth, sleep disorders, acid reflux discomfort, and general health. A host of Health Concern Programs are available for each of these conditions. For more information CLICK on the health concern of interest found at the SITE INDEX on the right of this page. The Potency of MagCal-Ionic. Several unique and special processing procedures are used in manufacturing MagCal-Ionic which makes it a very powerful calcium and magnesium supplement.
Click for ordering information.
MagCal-Ionic is a blend of calcium gluconate and magnesium acetate and a residue of acetic acid from apple cider vinegar. The magnesium acetate used in MagCal-Ionic is some 2000 times greater in solubility than magnesium carbonate and many other forms of magnesium supplement products. This means the ability of the body to absorb MagCal-Ionic is exponentially greater than with most competing products. Of major importance for consideration concerns the ratio of elemental calcium, 40%, and magnesium, 60%, in MagCal-Ionic. This is important because magnesium is a natural calcium antagonist or channel blocker. It is known in health and medical communities that too much calcium may cause cellular necrosis or cellular death. That is why pharmaceutical companies developed the calcium channel blockers to make sure the cells within the body do not get too much calcium at once.

sinemet and restless leg syndrome
Posted by John on April 27, 1998 at 19:54:40: My study showed that I have restless leg syndrome to some extent in addition to obstructive sleep apnea. My wife says I have it (restless leg syndrome) a lot. I am still trying to get adjusted to sleep apnea and cpap, etc. but wonder if there is any advice for sinemet. I have been taking 1 tablet 25/100 past couple of weeks after I told dr that I do not feel more rested after cpap. His thought was that perhaps the legs were keeping me from good sleep I guess. I read of a concern that sinemet may cause Parkinson's or related symptoms. I don't need anything else. Frankly I'm not FEELING effects too much from cpap or sinemet. I also had consult with EENT dr and apparently look like a likely candidate for all of that surgery. My wife says cpap is great thoughnot to stay awake all night and listen to whether I'll start breathing again. Any thoughts on sinemet or otherwise? I'm still trying to piece together. Thank you.

Restless leg syndrome is a common cause of painful legs. The leg pain of restless leg syndrome typically eases with motion of the legs and becomes more noticeable at rest. Restless leg syndrome also features worsening of symptoms during the early evening or later at night. The characteristic nighttime worsening of symptoms in persons with restless legs syndrome frequency leads to insomnia.
Restless legs syndrome (RLS) is a sleep disorder in which a person experiences unpleasant sensations in the legs described as creeping, crawling, tingling, pulling, or painful. These sensations usually occur in the calf area but may be felt anywhere from the thigh to the ankle. One or both legs may be affected; for some people, the sensations are also felt in the arms. These sensations occur when the person with RLS lies down or sits for prolonged periods of time, such as at a desk, riding in a car, or watching a movie. People with RLS describe an irresistible urge to move the legs when the sensations occur. Usually, moving the legs, walking, rubbing or massaging the legs, or doing knee bends can bring relief, at least briefly.
Restless leg syndrome usually begins slowly. Over time, the legs become more affected. Less frequently, restless leg syndrome can affect the arms.

pharmacists planning service, inc.
If you have restless legs syndrome (RLS), you are not alone. Up to 8% of the U.S. population may have this neurologic condition. Many people have a mild form of the disorder, but RLS severely affects the lives of millions of individuals. To determine whether you may have RLS, answer the following questions.
  • When sitting or lying down, do you have unpleasant or creepy-crawly sensations in your legs (and sometimes in other parts of your body), tied to a strong feeling or urge to move?
  • Do the sensations and urge to move come on during periods of rest or inactivity and are they relieved by movement?
  • Do the sensations and urge to move bother you more in the evening and at night rather than during the day?
  • Do you often have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep?
  • Does your bedpartner tell you that you jerk your legs (or your arms) when you are asleep; do you sometimes, have involuntary leg jerks when you are awake?
  • Are you frequently tired or fatigued during the day?
  • Do you have family members who experience these same sensations and urge to move?

Ency. home Disease R Restless leg syndrome Overview Symptoms Treatment Prevention Alternative names: Nocturnal myoclonus; RLS Definition: Restless leg syndrome is a sleep disorder characterized by leg discomfort during sleep, which is only relieved by frequent movements of the legs. Causes and Risks Restless leg syndrome (RLS) occurs most often in middle-aged and older adults. It is worsened by stress The disorder consists of sensations in the lower legs that make the person uncomfortable unless the legs are moved. The sensations usually occur shortly after going to bed, but may also occur during the daytime. The abnormal sensations occasionally occur in the upper leg, the feet, or the arms in addition to the lower leg. The cause is unknown. There are often no obvious vascular or neurologic abnormalities associated with the disorder. Sometimes RLS can be associated with peripheral nerve diseases.
There is an irresistible urge to walk or move the legs to relieve the discomfort, resulting in periodic episodes of leg movements during early sleep stages. The symptoms may last for 1 hour or longer. RLS can result in a decreased quality of sleep ( insomnia ) with subsequent daytime sleepiness anxiety or depression , and confusion or slowed thought processes from lack of sleep.

    Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS)
Restless Leg Syndrome, or RLS, is thought to be a disorder of the circulation. This disorder results in a number of unpleasant feelings when the sufferer lays down for extended periods of time. The sensations are often called pullling, tingling, or crawling, usually throughout the calf area. The leg may also move uncontrollably. These symptoms seem to get worse in the evening, preventing the sufferer from getting a good night's sleep. Like Narcolepsy, RLS seems to be inherited. Caffiene seems to be connected also. RLS can be relieved by warm and cool baths and light exercise.

Restless Leg Syndrome Restless leg syndrome is a neurological disorder that has long baffled doctors and for which a cure remains elusive. People who suffer from the syndrome feel a tingling or crawling sensation deep in their legs and have an overwhelming need to move their legs to relieve the discomfort. Sometimes the arms are also affected. The symptoms often worsen at night, leading some experts to cite this condition as a major cause of insomnia and other sleep problems Although restless leg syndrome is not health-threatening, it can be uncomfortable and even painful at times. Both drug therapy and simple lifestyle changes offer ways for sufferers to cope. But probably the greatest peace of mind for people with the syndrome comes from knowing that they are not imagining their discomfort. Symptoms
    • A distinctive tingling or crawling sensation deep in the legs, accompanied by an irresistible urge to move the legs to relieve the sensation. Others describe the sensation as an aching. Occurring most frequently at night, disturbing sleep; during the day, the feeling may prevent you from sitting or standing still for any length of time.

For people suffering from Restless Leg Syndrome, the pain and discomfort happens before they are able to fall asleep. Periodic Limb Movement/Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS)
    General Information
Periodic Limb Movement condition is characterized by the jerking of a persons leg (or arm) during sleep. Each twitch may last from 1-3 seconds; about every 10-60 seconds. This may occur for only a few minutes or last for hours. In severe cases, the twitches may last all night. The movements themselves seem to do no damage, and some good sleepers experience them without problem. However, if the twitches are strong, or the person is a light sleeper, they can wake a person up. Because they occur before the wakening, you don't know what woke you up. If the awakenings are frequent, it can result in excessive daytime sleepiness. No one really knows the cause of these movements; there are likely to be a variety of causes. Sometimes they are related to certain medications, poor circulation, a metabolic disease, kidney disease or folic acid defficiency. There are some medications which have been used to successfully treat this condition.
    Restless Legs Syndrome
Many people with periodic movements also have Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS), and almost all those with RLS have Periodic Movements. With RLS. there are strong sensations deep within the leg muscles and knees that cause a powerful urge ot move. "It feels like bugs crawling!" This causes problems falling asleep. There are a variety of causes - poor circulation; changes associated with pregnancy and vitamin deficiencies. There are some medications which seem to help. All stimulants such as coffee, tea and chocolate should be avoided.
