    Prize Winners of POLYCHAR-8
The Paul J. Flory Polymer Research Prize is awarded to a person who has made an extraordinarily original and/or comprehensive contribution of a concept, a model, a theory, a process or a discovery in polymer science and engineering. The Prize has been awarded this year for the first time, in memory of pioneering contributions to polymer science of Paul Flory, a Stanford professor and Nobel Prize in Chemistry laureate, with the concurrence of his family. The Prize will not necessarily be awarded every year. The Young Polymer Investigator Awards, First and Second, are given to persons not older than 32 who have presented results based on research performed after completion of their education. The Student Awards are based on presentations made at the Conference, either poster or oral, without any preference given to either of these categories. The candidates might have already defended their dissertations; in those cases the papers have to be based on dissertations alone and not on any subsequent work. There are three such Prizes. The First Student Prize is named after Carl Klason, the late Professor of Polymeric Materials at the Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, who was also the Chair of the POLYCHAR Prize Committee. There are also four Diplomas of Distinction for Student presentations. Given the world-wide competition for the Student Prizes, three Prizes are usually not enough to recognize outstanding research results presented by students.
