Ruth Benerito's work pioneered the development of wash-and -wear fabrics. Her work has lead to the development of cotton fabrics that are crease-and- stain resistant, "drip-dry" and flame retardant. Benerito also studied the reaction epoxies. Her work have been used in the textile industry, paper, film, and epoxy plastic manufacturers, and to preserve wood.
