Nobel Prizes ¢º Purpose This is the most prestigious prize in the world, awarded according to the will of Alfred Nobel, who died in 1896. The Nobel Foundation, using the funds of Alfred Nobel's legacy, has four sections : three Swedish organizations and one Norwegian organization. The Foundation awards Nobel Prizes to "those who have made the greatest contribution to human race during the past year" in the fields of physics, chemistry, biology, medicine, literature, peace and economics. The first Nobel Prize was awarded on the fifth anniversary of Alfred Nobel's death, on December 10, 1901. The Nobel Prize for Literature is awarded by the Swedish Academy. ¢º Selection Genre and Criteria According to Alfred Nobel's will, in the case of the prize for literature, "the writer who has written with the most idealistic tendency" shall be given the prize. Have you heard of Johannes Jensen, Salvatore Quasimodo, Roger Martin Du Gard, or Frans Eemil Sillanpaa? It's doubtful. I'll tell you what they have in common: They all won the Nobel Prize for Literature, but their books are out of print and hard to find. Let this be your starting point in the coming week as you evaluate what you're truly worth. Here are some other questions to ponder. Do you really need to be acknowledged for your greatness in order to feel successful? Do others' opinions count for more than your own when you measure your value? Are you more eager to gain the approval of so-called "important people" than of the folks whose lives are entwined with yours? Is fame worth squat?

Free Will Astrology
By Rob Brezsny ARIES (March 21-April 19) : The Harvard Eating Disorders Center says 40 percent of all 9-year-olds don't like the way their bodies look. The National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders asserts that "Eating disorders among teens and younger children have reached 'epidemic levels.'" It cites kids' dissatisfaction with their physical appearance as the primary cause. Unless you're a rich supermodel who has indulged in cosmetic surgery, Aries, I bet you've fallen victim to the contagious spread of this kind of self-loathing. That's the bad news. The good news is it's now prime time to dissolve the bad habit of wishing your body were different from what it is. I dare you to summon the courage to love what nature gave you. TAURUS (April 20-May 20) : Here's how my answering machine message starts: "If you are a telemarketer, please know that I love you and respect your struggle to make a living in this insane culture. However, I do not wish to talk to you about your magazine subscriptions, long-distance phone plans or other fine products, so please hang up now." Read that passage a few times, Taurus, until you grasp the subtleties of its tone. I advise you to bring the same spirit to your communication with anyone who is trying to sell you ideas and emotions and actions that you don't really need. Be compassionate even as you succinctly express your firm convictions and strong desires. GEMINI (May 21-June 20) : Ready or not, Gemini, it's time to play! Get ready for adult games and not-so-adult games; games you've never heard of and games you unwittingly invent; games that start at the end and work backward and games where you're plopped down in the middle and have to figure out the rules as you go along. Let me get you in the mood for the odd fun with some tantalizing clues that tease as much as they please. One of the most entertaining diversions will be called "Undressing Your Defense Mechanisms." Another will be "There's Something I've Always Wanted to Tell You But I Want You to Beg Me." Now get out there and put on your game face, baby.

Travel to Finland - the 10.000-lakes country
in Northern Europe
Finland is a country in northern Europe famous for its scenic beauty. Thousands of lovely lakes dot Finland's landscape, and thick forests cover almost two-thirds of the land. The country has a long, deeply indented coast, marked by colourful red and grey granite rocks. Thousands of scenic islands lie offshore. Sweden lies to the west of Finland, northern Norway to the north, and Russia to the east. The Gulf of Finland and the Gulf of Bothnia, two arms of the Baltic Sea, border Finland on the south and southwest. The northern-most part of the country lies inside the Arctic Circle, an imaginary line about 2,623 kilometres (1630 miles) from the North Pole. In this region of Finland, called the Land of the Midnight Sun, the sun shines 24 hours a day for long perlods each summer. Helsinki, the country's capital and largest city, is located in the south, on the Gulf of Finland.
Most of Finland's people live in the southern part of the country, where the climate is mildest, though the entire country is snowcovered from December to April. Finns love the outdoors and the arts. They have a high standard of living and receive many welfare benefits from the government. Most of Finland's wealth comes from its huge forests. They form the basis of the country´s thriving forest-products industry, which includes woodworking and
