Northwest College - Powell, Wyoming Volume 4 Fall 1998 Northwest College Studio Singers invited to perform in Washington
The Northwest College Studio Singers have long been popular performers on campus and with the local community. Their energetic renditions of pop, blues and jazz numbers perennially pack the house. In February 1997, they were featured at the Music Educators National Conference at its MENC Northwest Division In-Service Conference in Bellevue, Wash. Mike Masterson, the group's director, said only two music groups from Wyoming were chosen to perform at the conference. He equates the privilege with winning a regional championship in basketball.
Northwest College Studio Singers The 23-member ensemble (including musicians and sound technician) gave an hour-long performance for nearly 1,000 listeners. Bill Larson, past president of the NW Division MENC, said the selection process for the regional conference is highly competitive, with submissions from music educators in a six-state region that includes Wyoming, Idaho, Washington, Oregon and Alaska. "Groups chosen to perform represent the highest standard of excellence in musical achievement from each state in the NW. division."
The Studio Singers for 1997 were: Allen Matthews of Afton, John McLellan of Casper, Travis Houle and Carrie Schultz of Cody, Jessica Allen of Dayton, David Nagel and Heather Perkins of Douglas, Anita Jones of Moorcroft, Jami Walker

Kyle Macmillan, Omaha World-Herald , November 6, 1998. "3 Women: A Poet, A Cellist & Me," was a very important contribution and had an important role in representing American dance." Ana Macara, Coordinator, "Continents in Movement" conference, Lisbon, Portugal "This artist is producing mature work that speaks richly to the individual viewer and the community of people out of which the choreography has developed." "This choreographer, usually using dancers who vary widely in age and abilities, is somehow able to extract the essence of an idea and make it not merely understandable but intriguing as well. She makes it all seem so simple and clear that it would be well to remember how difficult this is to achieve. Her works demonstrate knowledge, imagination, and the ability to strike an emotional chord in creative and interesting ways." "(This)…choreography was a delight to the audiences that viewed her work and to the students who learned her movement. Her input to the students was a significant contribution to their development as professionals as well as to their development as well rounded humans of the 21

The Gift Of Tongues, Are They For Us Today? See 2- Corinthians 5:14-21 1. The reader will notice that we have put words in parenthesis in the various Bible verses, this is done to help the student have a better understanding of the old King James language which is often a little bewildering to some folks who are not use to that kind of speech. Therefore, please bear with us as we teach the message. A good idea would be to read your Bible along with each verse we have quoted. It is also very important for the student to look up all the added Bible texts that we have referred to in the Message. This will give the reader much added information! 2. This message also contains thoughts and excerpts from several great Bible Teachers such as "Cornelius Stam, Charles F. Baker, Dave Hunt, Paul M. Sadler, Clarence Larkin, J. C. O'Hair, Jack Van Impe, Noah Hutchings, Ernest R. Cambell, John Barela, Arno Gaebelein, Charles R. Taylor and David Webber. 3. As to the writers belief and doctrine, we are strictly Biblical! We adhere to no denominational beliefs unless what they teach is taken from the true Word of God and taught in the correct context. We believe that we are to be busy proclaiming the truths for the present age of grace, in view of the soon coming of our Lord. We believe in... 2- Timothy 3:16 John 10:29 Existing today in many Christian circles is much confusion concerning the subject of "Tongues." There is great perplexity among Assembly leaders over the tongues movement. What is the cause of it and what are they to do with it? It will not go away. In fact the movement is gaining momentum.
