HENRY KELDER De in 1973 in Groningen geboren pianist Henry Kelder studeerde in 1995 met onderscheiding af aan het Noord-Nederlands Conservatorium bij Gerben Makkes van der Deijl. In 1999 behaalde hij zijn diploma Uitvoering Musicus aan het Rotterdams Conservatorium bij Barbara Grajewska en in 2000 de tweede fase studie kamermuziek. Hij nam lessen bij onder meer Eugen Indjic in Parijs en Vladimir Tropp in Moskou en volgde masterclasses bij György Kurtág, Ronald Brautigam, Pavel Gililov, John O’Conor, Jan Wijn en Zoltán Kocsis. In 1996 bereikte Henry Kelder de finale van het Europese Yamaha pianoconcours en in 1998 won hij samen met fluitiste Wieke Karsten, met wie hij een fluit/piano duo vormt, de eerste prijs tijdens het 8 e Kuhlau-concours in Duitsland. Henry Kelder treedt op als solist en in ensembleverband en als begeleider van instrumentalisten, zangers en koren. Sinds maart 1996 is Henry Kelder docent piano en correpetitor aan het Noord-Nederlands Conservatorium.

Ronald Brautigam was born in 1954 in Amsterdam where he studied with Jan Wijn at the Sweelinck Conservatorium. He continued his studies in London with John Bingham and in the United States with Rudolf Serkin. In 1984, he was awarded the most prestigious Dutch musical award, the Nederlandse Musiekprijs. Ronald has since performed with many renowned orchestras under distinguished conductors like Bernard Haitink, Riccardo Chailly, Valery Gergejev, Edo de Waart, Ivan Fischer, Simon Rattle and Sergiu Commissiona. He made his highly successful debut in Japan in 1988 when he played with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Osaka, Sapporo and Nagoya. In 1992 he was the soloist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra under the direction of Frans Bruggen during the Salzburger Festspiele. Ronald is a devoted player of chamber music and has made many recordings with violinist Isabelle van Keulen. Through his collaboration with conductors and musicians such as Ton Koopman, Frans Bruggen, Sergiu Luca and Melvyn Tan, Ronald has developed a great passion for the fortepiano instrument. He recently played Mozart's concerto for two pianos K365 with Melvyn Tan and the Radio Chamber Orchestra in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw. This brilliant performance led to many duo-concerts in England, Austria and Holland, including a televised concert in the main hall of the Amsterdam Concertgebouw.

Bijvoorbeeld zijn beroemdste werk: de muziek bij Shakespeare's 'A midsummernight's dream', en zijn eigen versie van de Matthäus-Passion. Mozart-Mendelssohn driedaagse Mozart en Mendelssohn waren beiden wonderkinderen. Ze stierven ook beiden jong, maar lieten desondanks een groot oeuvre na. Vooral toen hij jong was adoreerde Mendelssohn Mozart en vinden we duidelijke invloed van Mozarts componeerstijl in zijn werken terug. Uit het land van de midzomernacht Is het door de Scandinavische natuur en de lange, donkere winters dat werken van noordelijke componisten vaak een geheimzinnige, soms sombere sfeer hebben? Het is in ieder geval zo dat de Denen, Noren, Zweden en Finnen vanaf de 19e eeuw een heel eigen stijl hebben ontwikkeld, waarmee u in de volgende concerten nader kennis kunt maken.
