David Rosenak Video Bob Desicher Madeline Till Lisa Rabinowitz (Chair; Director of Fine Arts) is a printmaker and writer who earned her B.A. in art history and studio art from Oberlin College, and two masters degrees and a doctorate from Columbia University Teachers College. She is the co-founder of the CAT program, the first director of Westminster Gallery, and past president of the Board of Luna Stage, an Actors' Equity theatre. Lisa is enthused about turning visions and plans into realities, whether it is a student's dream of becoming an art teacher or the creation of our next new lab. John Towsen Chris White (Director of Music) has toured internationally as a jazz bassist with such legends as Dizzy Gillespie, Billy Taylor, Duke Ellington, Sarah Vaughan, Carmen McRae, Chick Corea, Billy Cobham, and Nina Simone. He performs with his own group, The Jazz Survivors, and with Prism, a cooperative band of leaders, and released a solo album, the Chris White Project. Founder of MUSE jazz program at Brooklyn Children's Museum, first Executive Director of New York City's Jazzmobile, first director of the Institute of Jazz Studies at Rutgers, Chris has made music come alive here in a recording studio and lab of his own creation.

Now 75, Taylor plays with a passion and enthusiasm that has thrilled jazz fans for more than half a century. The pianist, composer, author, activist, teacher, lecturer, actor and radio and television personality still finds the energy to play as a solo act or with his trio (which will be with him at UD) three weeks every month. On college campuses, such as UD, his schedule includes master classes and workshops. He's also on the faculty at the University of Massachusetts where he received his doctorate in education and now holds the Wilber D. Barrett Chair of Music. For the last 20 years, he also has been on public radio hosting a variety of jazz programs, the latest of which is Billy Taylor's Jazz at the Kennedy Center . Michel Petrucciani by Steve Voce My philosophy is to have a really good time and never to let anything stop me from doing what I want to do. Nothing unusual about that, one might think. But since Petrucciani was an adult standing only three feet high and weighing 65 pounds, one might expect his ambitions to have been, so to speak, closer to the ground. But, had he not aspired to achievements above his station, he might have chosen to play something more convenient such as the harmonica rather than the piano. Had he done so music would have missed one of the most powerful jazz pianists of the last two decades. The son of the Sicilian jazz guitarist Antoine Petrucciani and his French wife Anne, Michel was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, more often known as "glass bones" disease. During his life he suffered literally hundreds of bone fractures. Raised in Montelimar in a jazz-filled home, he could hum Wes Montgomery solos as soon as he could talk. He played a toy set of drums in the family band, along with his brothers Phillipe, who was also a guitarist, and Louis, who played the bass. Michel's ambition to become a pianist was fired when he saw a televised Duke Ellington concert when he was four. As a result his father bought him a toy piano but Michel was so frustrated by its limitations that he smashed it with a hammer. "It was not the sound I had heard on TV."

CRITICS AND REVIEWS LOGOS - 2000 Years With Christ is a Cantate for choir, soloists, orchestra, rhythm and horn sections. The music is by Jens Wendelboe and the Lyrics by Martin Alfsen. The lyrics are inspired by and adapted from the Gospel of John. Kor-90, a choir from Gjovik, Norway commissioned Jens Wendelboe in 1999 to write this piece for the Jubileum Year - 2000. LOGOS is somewhat of a groundbreaker within the Cantate genre as it encompasses and embraces a wide range of music styles. The Cantate had its premier concert in the Olympic Hall in Gjovik, Norway. This and all subsequent concerts have all been met with great reviews. Various movements from LOGOS were aired on NRK, the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation, first on New Years Eve 99/00, and then again on a highly rated live entertainment program to raise funds for the Red Cross in August 2000. TV2, another national television corporation in Norway, produced LOGOS in its entirety and aired the enclosed program on the evening of April 14th, 2001. This time is commonly known as "Easter Eve" in Norway. Jens, composer, arranger, conductor and trombonist is a highly regarded composer of jazz and symphonic music and has written music for numerous Norwegian television productions and 11 CDs. He lived in the United States in the early 1980's, then moved his base to Norway, and has just recently returned to reside in the United States. Among his more commercially known credits in the US is his work as Donna Summer's regular musical director from 1992-1995. Martin Alfsen, musician, producer, songwriter and choir director is a recognized name in Scandinavia's gospel and religious music circles. Resumes for both are enclosed.

"I would like to be able to give off the same things that inspired me to really love the instrument and love music," he said. "That was one of the things that impressed me when I was a child and saw the people I thought were great. One thing I noticed was that they inspired others. If you can do that, that's a lot." In a life cut tragically short in February 1997 by a fatal heart attack, Tony Williams inspired countless drummers to strive for excellence and find their own voices, as he had done throughout his remarkable career.
