Golda Vainberg-Tatz Elaine Greenfield Widely acclaimed for her sensitive musicality and compelling artistry, pianist Elaine Greenfield has become a noted performer, MTNA Master Teacher, devoted educator, arts administrator, clinician, and adjudicator. Her career presently includes solo and ensemble engagements throughout North America, radio/television broadcasts, and recordings: Debussy Prèludes, Bk. I; "Music of Her Own" (music by women); a CD with the Vermont Contemporary Music Ensemble, of which she is a founding performer; 2 CDs with "Transcontinental Duo" partner, Adamant colleague Jan Meyer Thompson; and, historical recording, "Le piano de Debussy", CD of Debussy's complete Prèludes, performed on Debussy's piano of choice, a 1907 Blüthner of Leipzig, from the E.M. Frederick Collection. Elaine's early instructors included Lorin Hollander, Julio Esteban, Irene Rosenberg, James Ball, Walter Hautzig, John Perry, and Dorothy Taubman. Biography G rammy-Award winning Richard Danielpour "is an outstanding composer for any time, one who knows how to communicate deep, important emotions through simple, direct means that nevertheless do not compromise" (The New York Daily News). A distinctive American voice, his music is of large and romantic gestures, brilliantly orchestrated, deeply emotional, and rhythmically vibrant. His work has attracted an illustrious array of champions, and, as a devoted mentor and educator, he has also had a significant impact on a younger generation of composers. Mr. Danielpour is one of the most recorded composers of his generation, and became only the third composer after Stravinsky and Copland to be signed to an exclusive recording contract by Sony Classical. Since then, Sony has released several Danielpour recordings, including the Grammy Award-winning Cello Concerto, recorded by Yo-Yo Ma and Philadelphia Orchestra conducted by David Zinman, and the Grammy-nominated Concerto for Orchestra (coupled with Anima Mundi ), recorded by Zinman and the Pittsburgh Symphony. Andrew Wolf Memorial Award OCTOBER 10-13, 2003 ROCKPORT, MAINE Come join the Muir Quartet, guest coaches, and a group of amateur adult musicians for a 4-day chamber music workshop October 10-13, 2003 in beautiful Rockport, Maine. You will study the great chamber music repertoire with fellow enthusiasts, be coached by some of the country's finest chamber musicians, and have the opportunity to perform in the historic Rockport Opera House. Baginski, FSC, Scholars Program 28 January 2003, Feast of St. Thomas Aquinas "He who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead; his eyes are closed." Albert Einstein Scholarship as discovered in Alexandria and Timbuktu. Discipleship as lived in Jerusalem. Citizenship as practiced in Athens. In the second semester, the uncompromising expectation is that each Baginski Scholar will engage more than 5 experiences, excluding the Spy Museum and the Embassy of The Holy See. These two venues do count as your first field experiences of the second semester. The concern should not be so much number as much as kind regarding your experiences, a critical part of the Sophomore Colloquia. The Carnegie Museum of Natural History and the Carnegie Museum of Science cannot count as field experiences. The exception is special exhibition which require prior approval by the director. Any event that has not been touted on the list must be approved by the director, if you wish to count it as a field experience. The list below is not exhaustive.
