You need Quick Time Player, you may download it http://www.quicktime.com Stephen Montague was born and educated in USA, and he has lived in Europe since 1972, first in Warsaw as a Fulbright Scholar, and since 1974, in London where he is based as a free lance composer. He has written for all medium and his works have been performed by orchestras, chamber groups and soloist world wide. Recent events have included performances by The London Symphony Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra (Washington,DC), a Norwegian military band, the Hilliard Ensemble and soloist such as pianist Stephen Kovacevich and Marc Hamlin and percussionist, Evelyn Glennie.
He has collaborated with Maurice Agis since 1992 when he composed the first Bright Interiors , electroacustic sound environment, an integral part of the sculpture.
The music emanates from points throughout the space, but it is actually performed over a matrix of 16 loudspeakers installed out of sight of the public. The musical sounds are made both from the natural world like human voice, wood blocks and water, and from electronic sounds produced by computer. Bright Interiors III was created at EMS, the Electronic Music Studios of the University of Texas at Austin, while Montague was a guest professor at the university from January through May, 2000. It begins with sounds of breath from the natural world which are gradually transformed to something far beyond the original source. The 16 channels of sound work as a series of 8 one hour long 2 channel loops. Each loop is a different length which interacts differently with its neighbour as they get further and further out of sync in the course of a day run. The different loop lengths mean that they always interact with each other in a completely unique way and so provide an amazing variety of relationships analogous to the continually changing colour relationships found in the sculpture.

The genius of these young musicians will blow you away, writes David Sonin
The Hampstead and Highgate Festival is delighted that Julian will be making his official London debut with two recitals so that audiences can appreciate what an outstanding virtuoso he is.
Julian has played several times for members of the Royal family at Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle and he was featured recently in a three-part series on Channel Four entitled Gifted.
Currently, Julian is studying for a postgraduate artist diploma at Indiana University under Professor Howard Klug.
A showcase series will also feature a galaxy of young talent in their 20s, as well as appearances by others in celebrity recitals.
Adrian is currently a postgraduate student at the Royal College of Music and aside from orchestral and chamber concerts, he performs regularly with the Testori Quartet.
Next on stage will be Hampstead duo Gemma Rosefield, cello, and Inon Barnatan, both of whom are members of the Fidelio Piano Quartet, which has won a string of awards since it was founded in 2000. Gemma studies at the Royal Academy of Music, though she has appeared as a soloist and chamber player in the USA and on the Continent and has taken part in masterclasses with, among others, Ralph Kirshbaum, Yo-Yo Ma, Zara Nelsova, Garry Hoffman and Steven Isserlis.

Either by choice or out of respect to the Earl and Countess of Wessex, who were in the audience, the piano was placed laterally across the stage and immediately seemed to put Kovacevich at a directorial disadvantage.
However, he is as eloquent an interpreter of Mozart as he is of any keyboard composer and this was an account rendered with care and thought, especially in the finely crafted slow movement with its set of G minor variations.
However, under Kovacevich it moved from the opening chaconne with confidence. A beautifully crafted lyrical andante moved serenely to the robust third movement allegro, then on to the brilliant final chaconne with its swathe of references to Bach.

Steven Isserlis Steven Isserlis' cultural background is fascinating: his grandfather was the Russian pianist and composer Julius Isserlis, while his family tree has connections with Mendelssohn and Karl Marx. Today his artistic profile is characterised by a uniquely beautiful sound, a diverse choice of repertoire, a passion for finding neglected works, a talent for devising performances in which he gathers around him friends and musical colleagues such as Joshua Bell, Pamela Frank, Stephen Hough, Olli Mustonen, Stephen Kovacevich and Tabea Zimmermann, and above all, commitment to the music he plays. In 1998 he was awarded a CBE in recognition of his services to music. He is an honorary member of the Royal Academy of Music, and in 1993 received both the Piatigorsky Award in the U.S. and the Royal Philharmonic Society Award. In the year 2000 he was awarded the Schumann Prize of the City of Zwickau (Schumann's birthplace); previous recipients have included Gilels, Masur, Richter and Fischer-Dieskau. His busy concert schedule includes invitations from the greatest orchestras, such as the London Symphony Orchestra, Berlin Philharmonic, Philharmonia and Los Angeles Philharmonic, and conductors including Vladimir Ashkenazy, Michael Tilson Thomas, Christoph Eschenbach, Roger Norrington, John Eliot Gardiner and Sir Colin Davis. Engagements this season include performances with Philharmonia, Camerata Salzburg, Boston Symphony and the London Symphony orchestras and a tour to Japan and the Far East with the Czech Philharmonic.

    http://www.nopapers.nl/km/muz2/1/muze0167.html
