Her performances have been widely praised, with special attention given to her interpretations of Brazilian composer Francisco Mignone's Valsas Brasileiras (Brazilian Waltzes). Her recording of the complete set of Mignone's 24 Valsas Brasileiras has just been released on compact disc. The Washington Post, in reviewing a recent recital by Ms. Mascolo-David at the Corcoran Gallery, described her as "a splendid pianistrefined, searching and expressive, and her playing is loaded with insight and interpretative detail." Ms. Mascolo-David will present a recital in Ames on Sunday evening, April 29, at 7:30 p.m. in the Martha-Ellen Tye Recital Hall. On the program are works of Portuguese composer Antonio Fragoso, Ludwig van Beethoven, Frederic Chopin, and Brazilian composer Francisco Mignone, including five of the Valsas Brasileiras. Ms. Mascolo-David has performed and led workshops and master classes in Europe and the Americas. She has given solo recitals in Brazil, Italy , Portugal , Poland, and the United States. She has appeared as a soloist with orchestras in Peru and the USA, and she has completed five years of engagements with the Orpheus Piano Trio of Central Michigan University.

Alexandra Mascolo-David a native of Lisbon, Portugal, is Associate Professor of Piano at Central Michigan University. In recent years, Dr. Mascolo-David has explored the evocative piano music of Portuguese and Brazilian composers. She is in the forefront of researching the works of Francisco Mignone, and her performances, especially of his Valsas Brasileiras (Brazilian Waltzes), have been widely praised. Delta College News Release Return to Delta News March 14, 2002 Portuguese Pianist A Prized Performer Portuguese pianist Alexandra Mascola-David, whom the venerable Washington Post has described as a "splendid pianist-refined, searching and expressive, her playing is loaded with insight and interpretative detail"-will give a solo performance at Delta College on Friday, March 22. Mascola-David's concert, part of the college's Allegro Series, begins at 7:30 p.m. in Delta's Lecture Theater. The performance was originally scheduled for Sunday, March 17, but because that is the last day of Spring Break at Delta, it's been moved to March 22. "Mascola-David has an artistic flair about her that makes for a passionate, emotional performance," said Brad DeRoche, Allegro Series organizer and Delta music instructor. "She's a talented performer." Mascola-David has appeared as a soloist with orchestras in Peru and the United States and has completed five years of engagements with the Orpheus Piano Trio of Central Michigan University, where she teaches piano. DeRoche said she has been enriching her musical repertoire with the evocative piano music of Portuguese composers and that of Francisco Mignone, a Brazilian composer.
