New Member Spotlight Noriko Ogawa Recital Friday 11 July, 2001 Auckland Castle, Bishop Auckland, County Durham The opening event of the regional Japan 2001 programme will be a recital by Noriko Ogawa, internationally renowned pianist, who will perform at Auckland Castle on Friday 11th May. Noriko is a national celebrity in her home country and in 1999 was awarded the Japanese Ministry of Education's Art Prize in recognition for her contribution to the culture profile of Japan. With regular radio and television appearances she now spends half her time in Japan and half in Europe. Noriko records regularly for the BBC as soloist and has played with the major British Orchestras, including the Philharmonia, BBC Philharmonic and the Halle.
