Wilk Book Prizes MUSIC AT PIASA'S 60TH MEETING The program of the 60th Meeting of the Polish Institute of Arts and Sciences of America was especially solemn and well attended, due to its location at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. and the involvement of Polish politicians and important personalities from the academic world (chairs and rectors of numerous universities). During the opening remarks Dr. Thaddeus Gromada, Executive Director of this organization, reminded all present that the Meeting featured the largest number of Polish scholars so far, and that it represented the continuing tightening of connections between Polish and Polonian scholars. The press was also well represented, especially that it was provided with a magnet, in the form of Zbigniew Brzezinski, vice-president of PIASA (the president, Prof. Wandycz of Yale University was serving as the most gracious and sophisticated host), and Mr. Jerzy Buzek, former prime minister of Poland.

Love in the medieval chateau
Dr Jonathan Phillips, History, is interviewed by Amanda Vickery in front of the cameras at the Chateau Fort of Ventadour where one of Eleanor of Acquitaine's admirers wrote troubadour poetry in her praise. The interview was for Dr Vickery's six-part series for BBC2, The Trouble with Love, which uncovers the story of how people have managed their love lives over the last 800 years. A half-day symposium on the Trouble with Love, took place at Tate Britain, London in September. Dr Vickery joined the authors, philosophers and journalists Alain de Botton, Rosie Boycott, A S Byatt, Richard Coles, Sebastian Faulks, Jonathan Miller, Susie Orbach, Michael Wood and others to explore the realities and fantasies surrounding the representation of romantic love in the twenty-first century.

Cuba Gooding Jr. goes overboard in Boat Trip. If only he'd drown. Boat Trip
Starring Cuba Gooding, Jr., Horatio Sanz, Roselyn Sanchez, Vivica A. Fox, Maurice Godin and Roger Moore.
Directed by Mort Nathan.
Rated R. 94 Minutes. by John Larsen Smarting over his break-up with Felicia (Vivica A. Fox), Jerry (Gooding) allows best friend Nick (Horatio Sanz) to talk him into taking a singles cruise, where they hope to meet a boatload of honeys. Thanks to a convoluted plot mix-up, Jerry and Nick end up on a gay cruise, something they discover too late to disembark. Trying to make the best of a bad situation, they end up preying on the few women on the cruise. Less fun than a rectal exam by Freddy Krueger, Boat Trip wades through shallow waters before grounding itself on a reef of stupidity. Gooding should feed his agent to the sharks for anchoring him to this shipwreck.
