Delaune or Lydia Boudreaux March 25, 2002 JUBILEE FESTIVAL OF ARTS AND HUMANITIES RETURNS TO NICHOLLS THIBODAUX — Come join the fun at Nicholls State University’s fourth annual Jubilee: A Festival of the Arts and Humanities from April 10 to 21. The annual festival has drawn more than 20,000 people from across the state and the nation to its cultural and educational events. Since 1999, the festival has featured more than 230 events, including plays, musical performances, art exhibitions, literary and historical presentations, scientific discussions, workshops, poetry readings, lectures, culinary demonstrations and folklife festivals. The excitement begins Wednesday, April 10 in the Nicholls State Quadrangle with a folklife festival that celebrates the Cajun heritage unique to south Louisiana. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., traditional Cajun crafters will display their creations and demonstrate their skills. Presenters will include soapmakers, artists, woodcarvers, weavers, old-fashioned toymakers, quilters, net makers, a blacksmith, authors, jewelers, painters and more. Bring the whole family to enjoy the live musical performances and traditional Cajun food. Other events scheduled during this year’s Jubilee: A Festival of the Arts and Humanities include a ceramics demonstration by world-acclaimed artist Don Reitz, a poetry and fiction workshop, cooking workshops by the faculty of the Chef John Folse Culinary Institute, a walking tour of historical Thibodaux, a concert by the Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestra and a day of presentations dedicated to the Holocaust.
