Anthony Syme is an independent luthier based out of Colorado Springs CO. He was born in Nevada and grew up in South Carolin, Florida, and Colorado. As pertaining to music, he started learning the saxophone at the age of 9. At the age of 12, Anthony and a group of five friends established dreams of becoming a great band in the not too distant future after all of their parents had retired from the military and came back together again. The one inhibiting factor is that none of them played any pop-rock instruments. It was therefore established by the group that each person should learn their instrument and then everything would be in place for establishing the band.
As fate had it, the parents of the group didn't establish the rock star dream as one of their objectives in life, so all the parents went their own way and the boys never came together again. Since Anthony didn't know fate, he worked fervently from the age of 12 on up, on his mission objectives of playing the bass guitar.
He learned the bass quite fervently and started playing the guitar which lead into songwriting. At the ripe age of 12 then Anthony wrote his first few songs, (however sad they were). He also established a goal to make a bass guitar, (for utterly no reason in particular).

Home About Us Contact Us ... Jackson Area Links Review: JSO jazz program energized by surprising source By Terry Pow
For the Jackson Citizen Patriot
Monday, March 18, 2002 - page A-6 To my certain knowledge, jazz did not originate in the bayous of Hillsdale County, and even more certainly not in one of the most conservative colleges in the land.
Yet, life is full of surprises, as a group of Hillsdale College musicians demonstrated Saturday night when they joined the Jackson Symphony Orchestra and sound-blasted the cobwebs from the Potter Center's rafters.
My goodness, do these young Republicans swing!
Gray heads were nodding and feet tapping in the orchestra ranks as. the guests from down south ripped into a Duke Ellington medley in the first half, then returned rising from the pit after intermission with more of the good stuff.
Vocalist Britany Dixon delivered a pleasing rendition, of George Gershwin's "Someone toWatch Over Me," and there were some nifty instrumental solos from Bob Miller and Chris Kateff on tenor and alto sax, Chris McCourry on trumpet and flugelhorn, and Dan Coughlin on drums.
The JSO, under maestro Stephen Osmond, opened the evening swinging - as befits a program labeled "All That Jazz" - with a rousing piece called "Black Dragon Canyon" by Henry Wolking, chair of jazz studies at the University of Utah.

Layne Staley, lead vocalist of grunge-metal pioneers Alice In Chains, was found dead in his apartment on Friday, April 19th, 2002. He had apparently been dead for some time, as DNA analysis was necessary to determine the identity of the body. Staley was an unrepentant heroin addict, and his drug use was a constant source of trouble for his band, in particular guitarist Jerry Cantrell, yet it also fueled his dark lyrics. Although no cause of death has been announced at this time, no doubt it was drug-related. Staley was uniquely talented and a superb vocalist. What a shame he chose to throw it all away for the needle and the spoon. As Neil Young once said, "Every junkie's like a setting sun." Layne was 34 years old.
Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake are apparently broken up. Excuse me, but big f*!#king deal! Who cares! When the media stops thinking that the entire world revolves around every minute detail of some popstar's personal life we'll all be much better off! That's not going to happen, though, unfortunately.
Megadeth have called it quits. Dave Mustaine injured his left arm in January and suffered some sort of permanent nerve damage, thus leaving his ability to play guitar to the standard he was accustomed in question. Not willing, apparently, to just be a lead vocalist, Mustaine instead folded the band.

Professor Beverley Diamond Reflects On Her Time at York
By Eric Wood Having come to York in 1988 from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Professor Beverley Diamond has been an important part of the York music department for almost fifteen years. Recently, I had the opportunity to sit down with her and talk briefly about her time here at York. In 1988, when Bev first began teaching, York had an impressive M.A. program in ethnomusicology but had yet to establish a Ph.D. program. Before coming to York, Bev recalled being highly impressed by the quality of the M.A. students that York was producing and by the opportunities for interdisciplinary work. Since arriving, one of the goals that Bev has sought to achieve during her stay here was to produce a new generation of scholars, teachers, and artists who would be able to ask questions that had previously been unthinkable. She sought to take musical scholarship in often non-traditional, alternative directions, drawing on post-colonial criticism, feminist ethnomusicology /musicology, gay and lesbian studies, as well as new directions in indigenous studies and popular music studies. She noted that only in the last several decades have such areas really developed in music, a discipline that lagged behind many others in this regard. Thus there has been and still is a considerable need for such work to continue to develop.

Mozart - Piano Concerto No. 9 (Music Minus One)
Category: Piano Sheet Music
Type: Music Book - Instrumental Folio
Have you tried the "Music Minus One" series of books yet? Maybe it's time you should. There are several piano concerti available, and you'll really enjoy them. This is Mozart's Piano Concerto No 9 in E flat minor, K.271. The concerto is performed twice on the CD: first with the piano soloist on the right channel for easy removal by the at-home player, enabling the pianist to study the score and listen to David Syme's interpretation of it. The Stuttgart Festival Orchestra then plays the concerto again (without the solo piano part) to accompany your solo performance. This is a wonderful way of practice. You're sure to enjoy it. 51 pages, $34.98, Item number 1702932 Instructions: To add this item to your shopping cart, click on the "Click Here To Purchase" button. Who We Are History A Short History of Temple B’Nai Or [A Longer History Is Being Written] TBO HISTORY to many, prior to the turn of the century (the one we’re almost out of) there was a significant Jewish presence in Morristown. Significant enough that the Morristown Jewish Center, a conservative congregation, celebrated its centennial last year. It was more than fifty years later that the Reform movement took its place along side of its neighbors. Sam Hollendar was in the navy during WWII. During his service he was an assistant chaplain to a Reform Rabbi. It was his introduction to Reform Judaism and the beginning of a life long love. In June of 1954, he and Ruth Epstein, of Epstein’s Department Store, gathered 11 families together to see if there would be support for a Reform congregation. When 25 families showed up at the second meeting, he knew it was going to happen. In November of the same year 58 families came together to receive the UAHC Charter of Affiliation. From its very beginning the congregation of Temple B’nai Or, which means "the children of light", has been intertwined with the community around it. Due to Sam’s connections with the school district, religious school classes met in a public school. Friday night services were held in the parish house of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer and High Holiday Services were conducted in the parish house of the Presbyterian Church. The first congregational meeting was held at the Women’s Club of Morristown.
