Life is a journey. We can enjoy the ride, take side trips, and help each other along the way. Everything that happens can be used for good or evil. We can learn from adversity or we can bemoan our bad fortune. Enjoy every day and make it a time of celebration.
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, "Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous?" Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world...We were born to manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some. It is in everyone. -Nelson Mandela, 1994 Inaugural Address

Introduction
Am I dead or alive? Awake or asleep? Is this happening now or in the past? Am I a reincarnation from an earlier time or is it a reincarnation of me? Questions like these preoccupied me as a child. They especially haunted me as a teenager when just about everything about the world stopped making any real sense. Why can’t the world just stay still for a moment? Why can’t my experiences be simple and clear? I tried to put these questions aside and simply do my life. Wasn’t that what everyone else did? People went to work. They drove their cars or took busses. They went to school or to their job, went home, ate, went to sleep, and got up again. So, what was wrong with me? Why all of the extra stuff in my head? Why couldn’t I be an ordinary kid growing up without all these unruly thoughts?
The Many Worlds of Quantum Physics You can imagine the relief I felt many years later when Arny began to discuss and teach about the concept of parallel worlds in quantum physics. Now, quantum physics is about as far from my early artsy education in dance and theater as possible and I must admit it scared the hell out of me. But, Arny explained it in easy to understand terms that relate to our psychologies and experiences. (See Arnold Mindell’s

As for me, I am a computer science professor. The good thing about the coverage is its realism where the individual creativity is not the whole story. The social context in terms of domain and field is espccially important since it is not always up to the individual to be recognized as "creative." in a certain field. The social context as the ultimate arbiter of who is creative and who is not is an important one especially in our promo peer-review survey-count oriented times.. Rating: 3.00 (out of 5)

Writing in Flow: Keys to Enhanced Creativity Keywords: Self-Help Customer Reviews Avg. Rating: (out of 5) Rating: 5.00 (out of 5) Summary: Definitely first-rate! Review: The author explains the flow state as that period when the task at hand is challenging enough to totally engage us, rescuing us from boredom, but not so challenging that we fail, frustration setting in. Between the two extremes of boredom (too easy) and frustration (too hard) we find the flow channel blissful execution, seemingly effortless progress, and an overall feeling of happiness. The author goes on to explain learning as excursions out of the flow channel becoming too comfortable (bored) so that we seek harder challenges, or seeking more skills so that we can overcome the frustration of failing at difficult tasks. Hence all learning is seen as driving us back into the flow channel from either above or below. There is even a beautiful graph to illustrate the process. This book gives you a new way of looking at the world, and makes you wonder why we all can't spend more time in the channel being happier. Read it

the CG Jung InstituteZurich and the Institute of Transpersonal psychology. the DaimonicThe Psychological Genesis of Violence, Evil, and creativity (1996/99
http://www.hoardmag.com/psychcreative.htm
A clinical and forensic psychologist, Dr. Stephen Diamond works with many talented individuals committed to becoming more creative. "Creativity," he states, " is one of humankind's healthiest inclinations, one of our greatest attributes." As he explains in his provocative book, "Anger, Madness, and the Daimonic: The Psychological Genesis of Violence, Evil, and Creativity," our impulse to be creative "can be understood to some degree as the subjective struggle to give form, structure and constructive expression to inner and outer chaos and conflict. "It can also be one of the most dynamic methods of meeting and redeeming one's devils and demons."
Anger, he asserts, is one of the most troubling emotions for psychotherapy patients in general. Yet, there is, Diamond says, a "very strong correlation between anger, rage and creativity, one which most people are not aware of. Most of us tend to view anger or rage negatively, associating it almost exclusively with destructiveness and violence. Certainly this correlation exists. But anger can also motivate constructive and creative behavior."
In his brief foreword to Diamond's book, psychologist Rollo May introduces and defines the classic Greek conception of the "daimonic" or darker side of our being, noting that "the daimonic (unlike the demonic, which is merely destructive) is as much concerned with creativity as with negative reactions. A special characteristic of the daimonic model is that it considers both creativity on one side, and anger and rage on the other side, as coming from the same source. That is, constructiveness and destructiveness have the same source in human personality. The source is simply human potential."

Psy 420: The Psychology of Genius and Creativity CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY JULY 6-26, 2003 OLEMISS STUDY ABROAD PROGRAM Did you ever wonder whether creative genius is born, made, or blind luck; whether genius and creativity are allied to madness; whether there is anything common to creative genius across the domains of art, science, and politics; and whether creative genius can even be defined in a reliable way? These and other questions will be addressed in a seminar-style 3-hour course that will be taught in the Ole Miss Study Abroad program at Cambridge England , this summer. The Psychology of Art (II) Creativity in Art and Science; A Bioenergetic Approach by Sheldon Litt
Starting from the perspective of William Blake's "Energy is eternal delight", this article is a theoretical speculation on the origin of artistic creativity which expands psychological theory in a new direction. Since Freud admitted that "the nature of artistic achievement is inaccessible to us psychoanalytically", an alternative theory of the aesthetic appreciation of art and nature as well as artistic creation is presented, drawing on ideas from Reichian bioenergetics, existential psychology, Otto Rank, and the gestalt therapy approach of Fritz Perls.
In the last issue of Positive Health , I tried to show that a reinterpretation of creativity is needed, including here both scientific and artistic creativity (which are closely related), by looking at their natural roots, not in terms of pathology.
Admiration is more primary than curiosity, and art may be considered more purely creative than science. In art the predominant motive usually is creation itself, while in science the predominant motive is the discovery of an explanation, which is a product of the creative process of thought.

The Psychology of Art (I) The origins of creativity, neurosis and the artist by Sheldon Litt
That art has a neurotic source may be readily observed in some instances but obviously there are great artists, the lives of whom reveal little evidence for the universality of this conception. Thus, while Rembrandt's tragic suffering points in this direction, the happy un-neurotic life of Rubens give us a contradictory example.
Following Freud's theory (while overlooking the exceptions), many writers have consequently sought to explain a work of art by delving into the disturbed emotional life of the artist. In their view, the theme of composition is always autobiographical and reflects the artist's own unresolved sexual problems. Freud started this trend with his epochal study of Leonardo da Vinci, which traced the relationship between Leonardo's inverted sexuality and his art.
Yet the point must be emphasised here that many people, not only artists, have endured suffering. A biographer who digs enough can always locate evidence of emotional instability and a pained psyche in everyone. Man's existential Angst is universal. But not all of us utilise this feeling for creative purposes. Why then seek the origin of art in the endless cesspool of man's constant anxiety?
The true well-spring of art come forth from sources deeper than the neurotic symptom, and is the common denominator of our basic humanness. The artist doesn't produce art because of his sickness; his artistic capacity is there first, as a natural development that emerges in spite of his neurosis.
