3D Graphics, fractals, animations and space images.
http://art.net/~starhawk
carries you
and welcomes you to
Hawk will take you to places far beyond the Stars, beyond Time and Space, idyllic places full of color, wonder and beauty that can only exist in your imagination. A sanctuary where one can reflect on all things possible and impossible.
All of the Art you see on my pages is digitally created, these are not scanned in paintings or photographs. All of my work is created in the 'Moment'... that is to say, I have no preconceived idea of what I am going to create when I start out... it flows from the Mind, Heart and Soul and as the 'Moment' changes so does the Image. I use many programs, and with few exceptions these images go through numerous processes before completion.
Hawk's Digital Art Studio
Here you will find images that are Landscape, Abstract, Surrealistic and Fantasy Best viewed in 16 million colors.
My Studio will be separated into a number of Galleries with thumbnails of each picture which need to be clicked on to view full size.. Choose the link which is mostly in tune with your own personal tastes.

Math Art Project 1999
School of Art
East Carolina University Greenville, NC Overview
  • East Carolina University School of Art in collaboration with the East Carolina Department of Mathematics started a project in 1996 to investigate the relationship between Geometry and Art. What characteristics are shared? What characteristics are different? These are questions Dr. Cynthia Bickley-Green and Dr. Phil Phillips of ECU School of Art sought to answer.
  • Mathematics and Art teachers from all over eastern NC were asked to participate in the study that involved students from area schools in grades K-12.
  • Both Math and Art teachers taught the lessons after learning the concepts in Saturday classes.
  • The 1999 Math Art Project ended successfully with an Art Opening on May 18, 1999.
  • The 1999 ECU Math Art Project is supported by a grant from the North Carolina Mathematics and Science Education Network Year 9 and East Carolina University with additional contributions from Weyerhaeuser Paper Company and Edgecombe County Schools.

45. Tanzanite TechNature
A collection of rendering, mathematics, and texturing functions that use fractals to grow everything from plants to planets with seamless procedural textures. (shareware, with source code) Requires DirectX 6.0+
http://www.tanzanite.to/
The TechNature© Library is a collection of rendering, mathematics, and texturing functions that use fractals to "grow" everything from plants to planets. It uses several fractal mathematics routines to generate the geometry of the terrain. It then uses special fractal texture generating functions to create seamless procedural textures. It is capable of "growing" stars, planets, moons, trees, and grass, as well as fluffy clouds. All of which can be used in any Direct3D program
Current Features Of TechNature Version 2.1 :
Terrain Shaping.
Thumbnail preview during planet generation.
Procedural Geometry, and Texture Library.
You can now add roads, paths, etc. to the procedural textures using a paint program.
Customize complex strata layers in rock textures.
Sphere mapping with no visible seams from gouraud shading, or the bilinear filter.
Scalable : Generate a low poly asteroid ,or a mega poly planet, or both(Deep Impact!)
Detail Mapping.
Optimized Code Optimized assembly language macro library. Ability to load/save pre generated layers for speedier planet generation.

Newton's method for finding solutions to equations leads to some fantastic images when it's applied to complex functions. You start with an initial guess for the solution which may be any number, and the method gives you a closer estimate to the solution. The next estimate will be even closer. Anyway, that's what often happens.
Typically, there's more than one solution to the equation. If you start near one solution, you'll quickly get to it. But what happens if you start somewhere between two solutions? That's when you get interesting pictures. Color the complex plane according to where an initial guess will eventually take you. Give each solution a different color so that all the initial guesses that eventually eventually lead you to one to that solution are colored the same. A Newton basin is just the set of initial guesses that lead to one solution.

Zooming Sierpinski This project is a National Science Foundation sponsored project designed to help secondary school and college teachers of mathematics bring contemporary topics in mathematics (chaos, fractals, dynamics) into the classroom, and to show them how to use technology effectively in this process. It is directed by Robert L. Devaney of the Department of Mathematics at Boston University. At this point, there are a number of Java applets available at this site for use in teaching ideas concerning chaos and fractals. There are also several interactive papers designed to help teachers and students understand the mathematics behind such topics as iterated function systems (the chaos game) and the Mandelbrot and Julia sets. If you wish to have information about the dynamical systems group at Boston University, you are in the wrong place. Click here to go there.
