Credit Rating: Level: Third Level Delivery: Semester One Lecturer: Dr Mike Simon(Room 18.08, Telephone 55827, email:mikes@ma.man.ac.uk) General Description
This course unit is a natural successor to the second year course unit Calculus with Complex Numbers. It introduces multivalued functions, analytic continuation and integral transforms, especially Fourier and Laplace transforms. These powerful and effective tools are used to solve many problems involving differential equations. The course is oriented towards applications rather than the theorem/proof style of development. Aims
To develop sufficient complex variable theory to introduce the complex Fourier and Laplace transforms and to apply them to the solution of partial differential equations. Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of the course unit students will be able to
    Prerequisites
Calculus with Complex Numbers. Linear Partial Differential Equations.

    presented by
    Anatoly A. Kilbas
Belarusian State University, Minsk, Belarus We consider the integral transform
    (Kf)(x)=
its modification in the Mellin setting (K f)(x)= and other modifications and generalizations of (1) and (2), the kernels k(z) of which contain functions of bessel and hypergeometric type. The transforms considered include classical Hankel transform, extended and generalized Hankel transforms; Hankel-Schwartz and Bessel-Clifford transforms; Struve and Y transforms, Meyer K -transform; Bessel and modified Bessel transforms; Hardy, Titchmarsh and Hardy-Titchmarsh transforms as well as Laplace type transforms; Verma and Mejer transforms; Whitaker and general Whittaker transforms; D -transform; hypergeometric F F F and general p F q -transforms, Whrite and Mittag-Leffler transforms, etc. We present a general approach to the study of the above transforms in the spaces L in R R This approach is based on the representations of the considered transforms as particular cases of more general transforms containing H-functions as kernels. The properties such as the boundedness, including the one-to-one property of the map, the representation and the range of these transforms are established, and their inversion formulas are proved.
