Who We Are There is hope for everyone no matter your lot or station in life. High Way Church has been ministering to the needs of our community and sharing the message of hope for the past 47 years. We are ordinary people with an extra-ordinary desire to see Maple Ridge affected in a positive way by strengthening the family, encouraging and helping our young people and caring for our children as well as our aged. We are aware that in many and varied ways people are seeking - for help, for reality, for love and for healing of deep personal hurts and needs. Young and old alike are searching desperately and diligently for hope. There is no hopeless situation. Jesus said, "come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." There is hope in Jesus. We live in the real world along with all of the rest of humanity. We have, however, experienced the love of God and the grace and forgiveness of Jesus Christ. We have found Him to be that necessary ingredient in our lives that causes us to successfully cope with hurts, disappointments, loneliness, illnesses, the economy and the thousand and one things that make up that which we call life. We have hope and you can have it too.

Who we are
Foothills Grace Fellowship is an evangelical community of followers of Jesus Christ who value a back to the basics approach to ministry. The focal point of our ministry is Jesus Christ and His finished work on the cross . We emphasize the expository verse-by-verse teaching of the Word of God with a dependence upon the Holy Spirit (not the methods, energy nor talents of man) to work in the hearts of the people according to the will of God as expressed in His Word. Our ministry is family oriented with a worship style that is a blend of traditional and contemporary music. We are ordinary people from all walks of life who have found reality through discovering new life in Jesus Christ. We promote friendship, guidance and support for families, and individuals of all ages, through our Sunday and mid-week services, programs, pastoral care and visitation. All are welcome to attend. Foothills Grace Fellowship is affiliated with the Apostolic Church of Pentecost of Canada Pastoral Ministry: Ron Stone (Pulpit ministry); Don Allen, Gary Barker and Oliver Mayer

BIOGRAPHY OF
REV. JAMES MCKEOWN (1900 - 1989)
F ounder, The Church of Pentecost
His Early Life:
Rev. James Mckeown was born on September 12 th , 1900, at Ballymena in Scotland to his Irish parents, William John Mckeown and Elizabeth Thompson. He was brought up in a Christian home. He knew his Bible and even liked the idea of becoming a minister when he grew up.
Conversion:
At the age of nineteen, he became converted through the ministry of Rev. Robert Mercer. Rev. George Jeffreys of the Elim Four Square Gospel Alliance in Ballymena, baptized James and Sophia, who later became his wife. He received his Holy Spirit baptism later. Rev James Mckeown left school at the age of eleven. Sophia however, got educated to the advanced age of nineteen and studied dressmaking for two years becoming a fully qualified seamstress. Rev. James assisted his father on the farm and later became a tram driver, when an inspector on Glasgow’s tram put James’ name forward.
Marriage:
He got married to Sophia Kennock, in 1927. Sophia was attracted to James because of his praying habit. She said, she never heard anyone prayer like that before.

Background of the Church in Western Canada
The early story of the work of the Free Protestant Episcopal Church in Western Canada is the story of the life of the Most Rev'd Charles K.S.S. Moffatt, D.D. (1907 to 1989) of Brandon, Manitoba, its founding and first bishop. Charles Kennedy Samuel Stewart Moffatt was born on 2 March 1907 in Lisconauss Ughnacloy, County Tyrone in Northern Ireland. At some point he emigrated to Canada and was ordained a pentecostal minister and received a doctor of divinity degree. Dr. Moffatt on 5 October 1952 became the pastor of the Apostolic Church of Pentecost (also known as Full Gospel Apostolic Tabernacle ) which was then located at 550 Sixth Street, Brandon, Manitoba. He succeeded the Rev'd V.W. Jonat as pastor of this church. Dr. Moffatt was a gifted preacher, hymn writer, and musician. He was unusual for a pentecostal minister in that at least twice a month he would celebrate the Holy Communion Service for his congregation - most pentencostal pastors stress a preaching ministry and celebrate the Lord's Supper only once a year at Easter. On 3 February 1957 Dr. Moffatt conducted his final service at this location, the growing congregation having purchased the former St. George's Anglican Church

The Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. (PA of W)
As with most modern pentecostal organizations, the PA of W's scriptural roots can be traced to the New Testament "Day of Pentecost" in 33 A.D (Acts of the Apostles, Chapter 2). Its modern day roots are connected to a religious revival of this biblical revelation that began in the United States in the late 1800s. This revival expanded into a full-fledged movement in 1906 at Los Angeles' Azusa Street Mission, with a meeting led by William Seymour.
As an outgrowth of the Asuza Street movement, a fellowship of "pentecostal assemblies" met in October 1907 in Los Angeles, and followed-up with similar meetings in subsequent years. This fellowship became known as the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World. J.J. Frazee (the PA of W's first General Superintendent) and G.T. Haywood participated in these meetings.
