Our hearts and prayers go out to those who sorrow or are missing loved ones from 9/11. Let us remember those who acted bravely in terrible circumstances, give honor to those who demand our rights not be compromised in the search for justice, ask that said justice be done, and remember the memories of those who were slain.

    http://www1.tip.nl/~t887876/asatru/asatru.html

Tribes, Asatru pay respect to old bones before move to Seattle museum
    By Mike Lee
Herald staff writer Click here for more photos
In the pallid light of Thursday dawn, Northwest American Indians lifted their voices in ancient song as a federal van holding Kennewick Man's 9,200-year-old bones idled nearby. Exhaust from the white Chevrolet mingled with the frosty breath of tribal well-wishers gathered to pay respects to the ancient remains, which were trucked to Seattle an hour later. Accompanied by a lonesome bell, the Indians' deep and serious song gradually rose over the van's rumble and soon filled the parking lot at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in north Richland. "They were just saying goodbye to him in a respectful and honorable way," said Jeff Van Pelt, cultural resources protection manager for the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation. He said it was the traditional kind of Washat religious observance tribes perform for their departed. A hushed group of 20 reporters and agency officials outnumbered the Indians, many of whom performed the longhouse-style ceremony with their eyes closed and hands raised.

Mimir's Well Welcome... I am a 19 year old college student with a passionate interest in Norse Mythology. On October 4th, 2000, I created Mimir's Well in the hopes of finding other young adults (ages 18-25) interested in pursuing Asatru. I welcome all genuine seekers (regardless of race, ethnic heritage, sexual orientation, gender, age, or other diverse criteria) to join me in a serious exploration of Asatru. We will discuss books (starting with the Eddas), mythology, lore, history, and of course, the spiritual aspects of Asatru as a religion and way of life. Mimir's Well is an e-mail discussion list hosted by eGroups . In order to subscribe, you must first create a free account with eGroups. Afterwards, feel free to send a message to the list and introduce yourself. There are no set list rules, only that this list will be in English, so please be aware of that. Also, once we have a few members ready to begin, I plan to use this website as a sort of homepage for the list. Here, we can post links, book lists anything we deem important. In the meantime, you can always refer to this page for updates and info, or feel free to e-mail me personally if you have any questions or concerns. About Asatru: Irminsul Aettir
