Hutterian Church Excommunicates The Bruderhof, 1990
Ordnungen and Principles of The Hutterische Church as they were practiced by us at that time and our forefathers, so that you may adopt and adhere to them, which up to that time you shunned and trod with your feet, and in fact disgraced and abused the messengers that were sent to you from time to time, all out of love for your salvation.
We fear that sending our children, and especially our young people who have reached the age of puberty, into outside schools is like throwing lambs out to the wolves. At this age, young people are most vulnerable to evil influences. This is not a good way to test for 'dead wood.' Delphini.
Third: March to protest Death Penalty: Referring to 'The Plough' # 25 (Aug, 1990) 'Hutterites March Against Death Penalty.' What a disgrace. Surely Christians are against any kind of killing, whether by the Death Penalty or any other form, but have we ever heard of Hutterites marching with other denominations, or taking part in such activities? No! Never in Hutterite history or in biblical history. What would our forefathers say to such practices? Or Paul 2 Cor 6:13-16. How did you dare to say that you were representing the Hutterites in Canada
Fourth: Torches, Idols: Your use of fire and candles in your gatherings and services is also foreign to us. We believe that this is on the road that leads to idolatry.

"Out Of The Opium Den"
My Life In the Bruderhof Communities 1988 - 1990
by John Marshall Stewart
I first discovered the Old Order Hutterites in the pages of The Encyclopedia Britannica. It was 1987 and I was twenty-one years old. I had already been doing research for some time, very intentionally looking towards finding historical religious movements and/or contemporary congregations that were consistent with the New Testament definition of "The Church". That same year, on Easter Sunday, only a few months after discovering the Hutterites, there was an article in my local Buffalo newspaper about the Bruderhof communities, Woodcrest and Pleasant View. It was truly amazing. I had never even heard of the Hutterian Brethren before discovering them in the encyclopedia, then, within a matter of weeks, an article appears in the paper reporting on a Bruderhof sitting right in my own home state. It seemed at the time orchestrated by the Hand of God. The information I had already collected about the Old Order western colonies was a little off-putting, anyway. They seemed quite like the Amish in the sociological sense; a closed, in-bred society that certainly was not responding to the needs of the world by playing a vital and relevant spiritual role as the evangelistic Body of Christ. Conversely, the newspaper article about the eastern Bruderhof actually included a number of quotes from members who had recently come "out of the world" to join the community. These converts testified to having discovered the living Spirit of God alive and at work within the Bruderhof. Their searching was over. I was drawn like a moth to a flame.

Helping Hands
The Bruderhof, Community Playthings, and Rifton Equipment More than eighty years ago in Europe, a small group of young people began a new life together. Seeking genuine and honest relationships, and deeds instead of words, they founded a community based on the teachings of Jesus. They called their community a Bruderhof , or ‘place of the brothers.’ Today there are eleven Bruderhofs in the United States, England and Australia. We come from many countries and all walks of life, but we are all brothers and sisters in Christ. When we first came to the United States, we began making playthings and furniture for preschools and daycare centers. Today our company, Community Playthings, is recognized as a leader in early childhood educational equipment. One of our Bruderhofs was located in a town with four homes for children with disabilities. Our young people enjoyed going to these homes to play with the children or help fix things up and soon the children, teachers, and therapists became our friends. The staff knew that we made Community Playthings. They began to bring broken adaptive equipment to us for repair, and to ask our help to improve it. Eventually, we were building new equipment. Therapists and teachers brought us their problems and their expertise and as we experimented

Gaithersburg Man Crosses the Bruderhof
Maryland Daily Record, August 31, 2000
By Peter Geier
A family court hearing yesterday in upstate New York may seem far removed from a federal lawsuit filed last week in Baltimore, but the two are inextricably linked by bonds of emotion, blood and faith. In the New York case, a Nigerian man is seeking visitation rights to children he fears he may never see again, after being kicked out of a religious group called the Bruderhof. Two other cases involving Nigerians excommunicated from the Bruderhof also are pending. In the Baltimore lawsuit, an air charter service with ties to the Bruderhof is suing a Gaithersburg man for defamation for publicly speculating that the air service spirited the four children and their mothers to Pennsylvania and Great Britain to prevent them from appearing in the Ulster County, N.Y., Family Court. "Speculation continues to mount today in regards to whether Rifton Aviation Services...may have flown four children and their mothers out of the country in order to prevent them from appearing" in court, the Gaithersburg man, S. Blair Purcell, wrote in a self-styled "press release" posted on the Internet Aug. 16. Rifton Aviation filed the defamation action eight days later. It claims the release was posted where its clients could see it and had caused the company to become an object of public wrath and ridicule.

The Bruderhof , a Christian community movement founded in post-World War I Germany in 1920 by Eberhard and Emmy Arnold , is a modern-day manifestation of the Anabaptist tradition. The Bruderhof is a pacifist Christian community, dedicated to living their faith and advocating non-violent solutions to today's problems, as the following article demonstrates. ELLENVILLE: Steven McDonald told students, 'Every time you do or say something mean or hateful, you're committing an act of violence.' By Barbara A. Wood
The Times Herald-Record
bwood@th-record.com
He sat alone in the stage spotlight, in a wheelchair. Paralyzed. Unable to face parts of the crowd without turning his chair. Unable to form whole sentences before taking breaths from his ventilator.
But the softly spoken words of New York City police Officer Steven McDonald silenced the 600 Ellenville Middle School students for an hour yesterday, before bringing them to their feet for two ovations.
His message: Forgiveness is the key to ending violence. Giving it. And asking for it.

Translate this page Seit Sommer 2001 wird der bruderhof an der Salzburger Linzergasse in einmultifunktionales Stadtquartier mit kreativem Charakter umgestaltet.
http://www.fuerst.at/21bruder.html
