Christadelphian Youth Activities
Christadelphian Youth Activities (CYA) has been in existance as Midland Christadelphian Youth Activities Committee (MCYAC) and latterly as CYA for around forty years. Our events are only open to children who regularly attend a Christadelphian Youth Group or Christadelphian Sunday School in the UK. Our activities are aimed primarily at the age group 5 to 16, which is an age band where children are generally too young to attend Christadelphian Young Peoples Study Groups and Study Weekends, which are aimed at young people usually aged 16+. All our events have a Scriptural content in the form of either Bible readings or a short Bible talk. Each year we hold a Quiz Evening, Rounders Competition, Sports Day, Ramble and Swimming Gala and entry for these events should be made through a Christadelphian Youth Group Leader or Sunday School Superintendant. Events planned for 2001, God willing, include:
Saturday 17th February

Saturday 7th April

Welcome To Christadelphian.Org Christadelphian.org is split into 2 sections. One section is for the public, and the other is a resource for Christadelphians Who are the Christadelphians? The Christadelphians are a body of Christians who base their beliefs wholly on the Bible. The name 'Christadelphian' means "brothers (and sisters) in Christ". We have been known by this name for well over 100 years. Our aim is to live by faith in Jesus Christ, according to the teaching of his followers from the first century AD. We believe that those who follow Jesus now, seeking God's strength and forgiveness, may confidently place their hope in the return of Jesus Christ to the earth, when he will bring eternal life to his people, and establish in power the long-promised Kingdom of God. To discover more about our beliefs follow this link. You may want to look at some of the valuable resources provided by our Sunday School Organisation (CSSU).

The Hymnbook
The first published Christadelphian Hymn Book appeared in 1864 under the title The Golden Harp . This contained 136 hymns and 19 anthems, but only metrical notation; no tunes were printed. Five years later (in 1874) it was replaced by The Christadelphian Hymn Book, and this in its turn was superseded in 1932 and again in 1964 with the collection of hymns used in most English-speaking Christadelphian meeting places around the world. At the present time, the possibility of revising this hymnbook is being considered. As part of this process, various articles have appeared in The Christadelphian magazine. Copies of these can be obtained from the Christadelphian Office. The two most recent of these also appear below, as well as the set of policies devised for publication of the new hymnbook. Comments and submissions are welcomed, and should be sent to the Editor. The Hymn Book
An article appearing in the April 1998 issue of The Christadelphian THREE years ago a number of factors caused the Christadelphian Magazine Committee to look at the possibility of revising the Hymn Book. There was, first of all, the practical problem that the 1964 Hymn Bookmusic as well as wordswould need to be freshly typeset before a further edition could be printed. Suggestions, moreover, had been made that with the passage of time more material (much of it Christadelphian) had become available, and this might justify a review and possible revision of the Hymn Book. Another consideration was the fact that the 1964 book has never been universally adoptedand revision would provide the opportunity to address difficulties which may have led to that situation and provide a new basis for united worship. A revised Hymn Book, furthermore, offered scope for rearrangement and expansion of sections, inclusion of Scripture references, musical directions, and other possible improvements.

Christadelphians - Bible Believing People
The Christadelphians are a religious group who base our beliefs wholly on the Bible, regarding it as fully inspired by God, and hence believe it is error free. The name "Christadelphian" was first used in the mid-1800s, but we believe that there have been people who share our beliefs throughout history. We are confidently waiting for Christ to return to earth when he will set up the Kingdom of God. The fundamental Christadelphian beliefs are:
  • Jesus is the Son of God, and a human being, through his mother Mary. Man is mortal, having no existence when dead. By living a sinless life, ending with his sacrificial death by crucifixion, Jesus has opened the way of salvation from death. Belief and baptism are essential steps to salvation. When Jesus returns, he will raise his "sleeping" followers from death and grant immortality to the faithful who have tried to live by God's precepts. His followers will help him to rule, bringing justice, righteousness and peace to the whole world - the Kingdom of God.
  • What Christadelphians Believe explains more about each of these key areas, showing that they are all firmly rooted in the Bible.

What to expect at a Christadelphian Meeting
If you were to go to a Christadelphian Meeting for the first time, would you expect to find....
    • Weird Rituals?
    • Drugs?
    • Brainwashing?
    • Orgies?
    • Suicide Pacts?
Sorry to disappoint, but what you're likely to notice first is...
    HATS
This may seem a little irreverent, but the point is that we do not belong to the weird cultish fringe of Christianity, although in some areas we are distinctively different to the mainstream.
That's not to say that we don't have some little foibles....
In the same way that a certain non-conformist church doesn't have mechanically produced music to accompany their singing, and they make a big deal out of it when everybody else thinks it's of pretty peripheral importance at best, so we have hats. Hats for the female memebers of the church. It doesn't really matter what sort of hat and you'll see a great variety. It could be argued that hats are a Christadelphian foible, although there are Scriptural arguements like this . It is open to some interpretation. Apart from the hats (which aren't a big deal really); a liking for calling each other "brother" and "sister" (Which is Scriptural and sounds rather sweet, but can be a bit embarrassing sometimes) and a tendency to Greekify things (we like to call our churches "ecclesias"so that no-one mistakes a group of people for a building with a spire) we are actually very normal, unthreatening and indeed perhaps rather boring people. (Oh, and we stand up for prayers-just to be different, as far as I can tell)
