Introduction
On-Line Books
Christendom Astray From the Bible Elpis Israel The Fruit of the Spirit ... The Trinity: True or False? The Christadelphian's are not 'just another sect'. Unlike many modern sects, we do not claim to have received any special or new revelation. The name "Christadelphian" simply means "Brethren in Christ", and Christadelphian's believe that to be a Christian means to follow Christ and his example. Because of this we, as did Jesus, accept only what the Bible teaches. Christadelphian's believe the Bible is the word of God, and is the sole authority to teaching us about God, his will, and his purpose with the human race. From the pages of the Bible we discover that God is the creator of all things and that he sent his only son, Jesus Christ, to be the means of salvation for mankind. The Bible tells us that Jesus will return to set up God's Kingdom, and restore peace and harmony to this troubled world. At that time he will reward those who faithfully follow him with eternal life in his Kingdom. Christadelphian's think that the majority of Christians today, whilst sincere, have gone far away from the original basic teachings of Christ and the Apostles. For this reason Christadelphian's have adopted the beliefs, hopes, and as far as possible, the way of life of the first century Christians. We do not have impressive buildings or financial resources, and have no central organisation. Christadelphian's have no paid preachers, believing that Christ alone is their head. Each member shares their skills and abilities, in whatever way they feel able.

Lists groups in the area with web pages and provides education about the religion.

The Birmingham Christadelphians
There are several Chrisatdelphian groups in Birmingham and the surrounding area. Currently only the South Birmingham and Woodgate Christadelphians have web sites. Please contact us on birmingham@christadelphian.org.uk if you want to contact the group closest to you. The fundamental Christadelphian beliefs are:
  • The Bible is God's word and the only message from him. It is without error, except for copying and translation errors. There is only one God - the Father. The Holy spirit is God's power. Jesus is the Son of God, and a human being, through his mother Mary. By living a sinless life Jesus has opened the way of salvation from death. Jesus is currently in Heaven, on God's right hand. He will one day return. When he returns he will rule the earth and give immortality to those who have tried to follow him and do the will of God. His followers will help him to rule. Man is mortal, having no existence when dead. The reward for the faithful is eternal life on earth after Christ's return. Baptism is essential to gain this eternal life.

The Christadelphians are a religious group who base our beliefs wholly on the Bible, regarding it as fully inspired by God, and hence believe it is error free. The name "Christadelphian" was first used in the mid-1800s, but we believe that there have been people who share our beliefs throughout history. We are confidently waiting for Christ to return to earth when he will set up the Kingdom of God.
    The fundamental Christadelphian beliefs are:
    1. The Bible is God's word and the only message from him. It is without error, except for copying and translation errors.
    2. There is only one God - the Father. The Holy Spirit is God's power.
    3. Jesus is the Son of God, and a human being, through his mother Mary.
    4. Man is mortal, having no existence when dead.
    5. By living a sinless life, ending with his sacrificial death by crucifixion, Jesus has opened the way of salvation from death.
    6. Belief and baptism are essential steps to salvation. 7. God raised Jesus from death. Jesus is currently in Heaven, on God's right hand. He will one day return.

C HRISTIAN A R ESEARCH M INISTRY www.carm.org HOME PAGE Christadelphian History Christadelphianism is a religious movement begun by Dr. John Thomas who was born in London England on April 12, 1805. In 1832 he immigrated to the United States. On the way to New York, his ship encountered several terrible storms that threatened shipwreck and death. Dr. Thomas promised God that if he were delivered, he would devote his life to the study of religion. He made it to America and kept his promise.
In 1834 Dr. Thomas started a magazine called "The Apostolic Advocate." This is where he really began to disseminate his teachings. He was greatly interested in prophecy and devoted much effort to understanding biblical eschatology.
In 1839 Thomas moved to Illinois and in 1842 he became editor of a magazine called "The Investigator." Five years later, he started another magazine called "The Herald of the Future Age." By this time he was living in Virginia.
In 1848, near the time when Christadelphianism was founded in America, he returned to England to speak on his brand of religion and found the soil there fertile. To this day, England has the largest number of Christadelphians. While in England, he wrote the book called "Elpis Israel" which means "Hope of Israel." It is a thorough work of his beliefs discussion creation, God’s law, sin, death, immortality, religion, the coming Kingdom, and a host of other subjects. He then returned to America.

It is intended as a reference work for those preaching the Christadelphian faith. Many verses we would go looking for to support our beliefs, would not be found in that Topical Bible. All are welcome to read and reference this page.
