43. Evangelical Covenant Church Of Helena
About Us. Our Mission Vision. The mission of the evangelical covenantChurch is to make fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
http://www.covchurchmt.org/aboutus/aboutus.htm

Helena, Montana
About Us
The mission of the Evangelical Covenant Church is to make fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. Our vision is to be a community that: Glorifies God and delights in His grace. Is deeply rooted in Biblical teaching and values and yet understands the freedom we have in Christ. Reaches out to both Christians and people seeking Christ. Fosters fellowship and growth among God's people. Reveals the power and love of Jesus Christ to the world.
What We Believe
Central to the philosophy of the Evangelical Covenant Church are the following: The centrality of the Word of God. The necessity of a new birth. The church as a fellowship of believers. A conscious dependence on the Holy Spirit. The reality of freedom in Christ.
Our History
For 110 years now, the Evangelical Covenant Church in Helena has been faithfully proclaiming Christ on the same corner in two different buildings. Originally started by Scandinavian Immigrants during the gold rush days in Helena, the church spent much of its early years holding its services in the Swedish language. Today the church, while fond of its faithful heritage and tradition, is a mixture of young and old, families and single people of all social, economic, and religious and national backgrounds. We seek to encourage each other to walk faithfully with God in all areas of our lives, fully relying of Christ alone for our salvation.

Our History...
Grace Evangelical Covenant Church
In 1990, several families from Redeemer Evangelical Covenant Church of Liverpool, NY sensed God calling them to undertake the planting of a new Church. After much prayer and counsel from the Covenant Church, the Cicero/Clay area of Onondaga County was targeted as a prime location. The search for a place to meet began, and at the same time, the group launched a phone campaign called "The Phone's for you". Prayer was pervasive in both efforts. God answered by providing space in the Cicero professional building, and by providing enough help to call about 15,000 homes. Grace Evangelical Covenant Church held it's first Sunday worship service March 17, 1991. We met for three years in the Cicero Professional Building. Church growth was steady, both in our spiritual maturity and in our numbers, and the space was soon filled. Then, in late 1993, the congregation commissioned a group to study our future facility needs. As in 1991, prayer pervaded the process. Based on the study groups recommendation, the congregation voted to move toward the purchase of a permanent home for Grace. The former Atlas fence company property at the corner of Rt.31 and Stearns road was selected, and approved by another vote of the Congregation. God then provided us with the resources and talents to acquire and remodel the facility. Much of the labor was performed by members of the congregation. Renovations were completed, and the facility was dedicated on October 15, 1994.

47. N.S.K.K.
Emerged as a result of the work of missionaries sent to Japan soon after WWII by the evangelical covenant Church.
http://www.wind.ne.jp/JIM/nskk/nskke.htm
Welcome to our home page.
Background Beliefs Churches Seminary ... Camp
Background
The Covenant church which evolved in Sweden in 1878 was a product of the free church movement in reaction to the overly formalistic and secularized Lutheran National Church. The name "Covenant" pointed to the bond of unity among individuals who shared a common experience in the rebirth and new life resulting from their faith in Jesus Christ, who died on the cross and rose again from the dead. The name also implied a sense of the mission of the Church as well. In 1885 a sister church was formed in the United States by Swedish immigrants. The N.S.K.K. emerged as a result of the work of missionaries sent to Japan soon after WWII by that group, which is now known as the Evangelical Covenant Church . The first product of this work was the Covenant Seminary in Tokyo, followed by the planting of churches in Tokyo, Kanagawa, Gunma, and Niigata. Initially there were two parallel groups, one run by the missionaries and the other by Japanese pastors. In April of 1967 they joined to form the Nihon Seikei Kirisuto Kyodan (Japan Covenant Christian Church). The work continues to be centered in the Kanto area.
Beliefs
As mentioned in the rules of the denomination "this body of believers affirms their belief in God's Word, both Old and New Testaments, as the only perfect standard for personal faith, practice and confession".

At the very heart of our ministry has always been a sincere desire to serve God and love those around us, to love as we are loved. Because of our humble beginings we have never forgotten that we are called out to minister to the whole community, especially those in need. Ministry is about OPENNESS. An OPEN Bible (the Old and the New Testament, as the Word of God and the only perfect rule for faith, doctrine, and conduct). OPEN hearts, open to the spirit of God. And last but not least OPEN arms reaching out to comfort and embrace those who are hurting.
