The early 20th century evangelist, Aimee Semple McPherson, was a pioneer of women in religion. Having experienced a profound religious conversion at age 17, Aimee began preaching across the United States and later, the world. In 1918, she established her base in Los Angeles, California, where in 1923, the 5,500 seat Angelus Temple was dedicated and became the center of her revival, healing and benevolent ministries. She was the first woman to receive a FCC radio license and was a pioneer religious broadcaster. Her sermons were the first to incorporate the contemporary communications of that day into her preaching of the Gospel. From Angelus Temple she performed an extensive social ministry, providing hot meals for more than 1.5 million people during the Great Depression. She summarized her message into four major points known as "The Foursquare Gospel," and founded a denomination called The International Church of the Foursquare Gospel. From its beginning at Angelus Temple, The International Church of the Foursquare Gospel has now grown to include more than 1,900 churches in the United States and Canada, and over 24,000 churches worldwide. FourSquare Gospel Church - Aimee Semple McPherson General Information American evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson, b. near Ingersoll, Ontario, Canada, Oct. 9, 1890, d. Sept. 27, 1944, founded the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel. Converted by her first husband, Robert Semple, a Pentecostal evangelist, she joined him in revival campaigns and then in the mission field in Asia. When he died in 1910, she returned to the United States with her infant daughter, married Harold McPherson, a grocery salesman from Rhode Island, and began to hold revivals. Nevertheless she persisted and her movement grew. When she died in 1944 from an accidental overdose of barbiturates, leadership of her church passed to her son, Rolf McPherson.

Hanson The International Church of the Foursquare Gospel (ICFG) invited 60 WCG officials to the annual dinner of the ICFG cabinet March 13. Before the dinner the cabinet toured WCG headquarters. The ICFG was one of the first churches to embrace the WCG after its transformation. During the dinner John Holland, ICFG president, and his wife, Doris, gave a proclamation to Pastor General Joseph Tkach and his wife, Tammy. The proclamation read: With Rejoicing and Commendation Let it be known to all, that the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel gives God praise for His work of renewal in and restoration of the Worldwide Church of God, declaring this to be one of the great miracles in the Body of Christ during the twentieth century; We commend President and Pastor General Joseph Tkach and the leaders of the Worldwide Church of God for their uncompromising conviction to the infallible Word of God and their courageous stand for those truths, in the face of great opposition and criticism; We rejoice in the broad-based and enthusiastic acceptance which the Worldwide Church of God has received from the Body of Christ, in particular, the evangelical churches of our nation; and we covenant ourselves with the Worldwide Church of God in prayer and the sharing of mutual faith as it seeks to fulfill its new ministry assignment in the power of the Holy Spirit and in the fellowship of the saints.

He previously served the U.S. Foursquare Church as Director of Church Planting and Chairman of the U.S. National Church Field Ministry Committee. As a consultant, Jared advised denominations in national and regional church planting strategies, including church planter selection, training and coaching, and provided training for church planters and coaches. Jared is a graduate of the Faith Center Ministries Institute and has studied at the University of Oregon. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Managerial Leadership, as well as a Masters Degree in Leadership and Church Growth from Northwest Christian College. In 1978, he and his wife, Ann, planted the Sweet Home, Oregon Foursquare Church. They have also pastored the Lebanon, Oregon and Eugene (Northwest), Oregon Foursquare Churches, and served as Administrative Pastors at Eugene Faith Center Foursquare Church. During this time, Jared also served as a Divisional Superintendent. Leggett and Bishop George D. McKinney were elected to serve as co-chairpersons of the Pentecostal/Charismatic Churches of North America (PCCNA). The meeting was held in conjunction with the 19th Pentecostal World Conference, which took place in Los Angeles, May 29-31, 2001, at the Los Angeles Airport Hilton Hotel and the Crenshaw Christian Center, of which the PCCNA was the host sponsor. Rev. James D. Leggett serves as the general superintendent of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church, headquartered in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, with the honorary title of Bishop. He serves on the board of directors for the National Association of Evangelicals and also on the organization's Evangelism and Home Missions Association. He is a member of Mission America, American Society for Church Growth, the North American Renewal Service Committee, and the International Charismatic Consultation on World Evangelization Advisory Council. Bishop George D. McKinney is the founder and pastor of St. Stephens Church of God in Christ. He and his wife, Jean, are also the founders of the St. Stephens Nursery School, Southeast Counseling and Consulting Services, American Urban University, and the St. Stephen's Retirement Center, located in San Diego, California.
