eBook Summary:
The Book of Mormon is a record of God's dealings with the ancient inhabitants of the Americas and contains, as does the Bible, the fullness of the everlasting gospel. It is a volume of scripture that is to many, comparable to the Bible, and to others, a companion to the Bible.
The Book of Mormon was written by many ancient prophets in the spirit of prophecy and revelation. Their words, written on gold plates, were quoted and abridged by a prophet-historian named Mormon. The crowning event recorded in the Book of Mormon is the personal ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ among the Nephites soon after his resurrection. It puts forth the doctrines of the gospel, outlines the plan of salvation, and tells men what they must do to gain peace in this life and eternal salvation in the life to come.
In time the golden plates were delivered to Joseph Smith, who translated them by the gift and power of God. The record is now published in many languages as a new and additional witness that Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God and that all who will come unto him and obey the laws and ordinances of his gospel may be saved.

A cult of Christianity
A cult of Christianity is a group of people, which claiming to be Christian, embraces a particular doctrinal system taught by an individual leader, group of leaders, or organization, which (system) denies (either explicitly or implicitly) one or more of the central doctrines of the Christian faith as taught in the sixty-six books of the Bible. Source: Alan Gomes, ''Unmasking The Cults'' See also: Cult - A Theological Definition
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons) fits this description, making it a pseudo-Christian religion. That is, the history, theology and practices of Mormonism show the religious movement to be outside of orthodox Christianity
While the claims of Mormonism must be firmly rejected, Christians should reach out to Mormons with the "gentleness and respect" 1 Peter 3:15 calls for, "in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth..." (

The task of the Joseph Fielding Smith Institute for Latter-day Saint History is the scholarly study of the history, institutions, people, and culture of the Latter-day Saints. As a research organization, we have a mission to use the materials of history and the tools of scholarship to investigate LDS history and heritage and to make available what we learn, both to other scholars and to our fellow Latter-day Saints in general. In carrying out this task, we seek to understand, and, where appropriate, emphasize the religious context of our history, including the vision and faith that underlay many events.

Parents who want to strengthen their families know they must have more time with their children and they must protect them from false teachings and toxic social situations. Home school makes it happen! more HomeSchooling from the Inside Out
Home schooling begins with an examination of the family: Who are we? What are our individual and collective strengths, talents, desires? What do we need to learn? How can we serve? How can we continually upgrade? A Saintly Education
You can hold a textbook-based, secular classroom school in your home, or you can give your children something much better a Saintly education. That means every study begins with what the prophets and the scriptures have to say about the subject. Socialization
Latter-day Saints home school because it's the best thing to do for their children and because they want to strengthen the family. The socialization gained at public schools today can be measured by walking the halls of a jr. high or visiting a high school assembly. There is no better socializing organization than the family. Getting Into College
Colleges love home-schooled students because those students are self- motivated and have a desire to learn. In fact, many colleges actively recruit homeschoolers. And there are also many good alternatives to college.
