Upon the recommendation of the Provisional Committee, the delegates adopted thedocuments known as the world pentecostal assemblies of God Fellowship
http://2000.agcongress.org/01_abot/abt_agfellowship.html
World Assemblies of God Fellowship
The Assemblies of God has grown to over 30 million members worldwide and is the largest Pentecostal Fellowship in the world. In July 1988, Dr. J. Philip Hogan, executive director of the Division of Foreign Missions, the Assemblies of God, USA, invited general superintendents from 40 nations to gather in Springfield, Missouri, USA. They discussed the possibility of active cooperation in world evangelism with a special focus on the harvest decade for the 1990s. A Provisional Committee composed of Assemblies of God representatives from each continent was chosen to propose means for implementing a worldwide Fellowship. The delegates at this Decade of Harvest Conference unanimously adopted and signed the document, the "Declaration of a Decade of Harvest." In August 1989, the International Decade of Harvest Conference convened at Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. Upon the recommendation of the Provisional Committee, the delegates adopted the documents known as the "World Pentecostal Assemblies of God Fellowship Constitution and Bylaws." Dr. Hogan was elected the first chairman of the Fellowship and served until 1992. Dr. David Yonggi Cho was elected chairman in 1992 and is the current chairman. In 1993, the name of the Fellowship was changed to World Assemblies of God Fellowship.

As the official weekly magazine of the Assemblies of God, Today s Pentecostal Evangel fulfills the threefold mission of the church:
  • To propagate the gospel of Jesus Christ; To give emphasis to Pentecostal distinctives, including the baptism in the Holy Spirit and its desired effects in the lives of believers; To strengthen believers.
This mission is carried out through publishing inspirational features that focus on contemporary issues, biblical instruction and devotional guides, Christian news, and conversation pieces with Christian leaders. More than 10,000 individuals have reported making commitments to Jesus since 1997 through reading the Evangel. Overview:
The Pentecostal family of denominations form one branch within conservative Christianity. A major defining feature of Pentecostalism is their belief in Glossolalia , or the ability to speak " in tongues ". Another is the unusual freedom and spontaneity exhibited during their religious services. Otherwise, their beliefs, practices and social policies differ little from other conservative Christians. Pentecostalism is a highly fragmented family within Christianity; one source lists 177 separate denominations.
History of Pentecostalism:
Pentecostalism is a relatively modern branch of Christianity. It grew out of the Holiness movement, which in turn had roots in Methodism Robert Longman Jr. (1) has listed a number of mid to late 19th century writings from within the Holiness movement which laid the foundations for Pentecostalism: 1845 : Article by John Morgan in the Oberlin Quarterly (issue 1, p.115) 1856 : Book by William Arthur: "
