The God Set Originally, Set was the deity for Lower (Northern) Egypt, and represented the fierce storms of the desert (sand storms) whom the Lower Egyptians sought to appease. However, when Upper (Southern) Egypt conquered Lower Egypt just before the First Dynasty, Set became known as the enemy of Heru (Upper Egypt's per'oah god).
