Theosophy - a synthesis of science, religion and philosophy A brief history of Theosophy.
Theosophy as known to the modern world was founded by the Russian initiate Helena Petrovna Blavatsky in New York in 1875 as an attempt to spread divine truth to the intellectually advanced part of humanity. However, "the Ancient Wisdom" has always existed in the world, either openly as Theosophy is taught today, or in the past, in Egypt, Greece and Atlantis where there were great temples and initiation schools run by the Earth's Hierarchy, or hidden, as in the Middle Ages amongst the alchemists, Rosicrucians and Freemasons, who were persecuted by both the clergy and the secular powers who (rightly) felt their power threatened by the truths which these hidden societies represented. What is Theosophy?
Theosophy is "A synthesis of science, religion and philosophy", and its motto is: "There is no religion higher than Truth". Practically, Theosophy presents itself today as a vast spiritual and cosmological system which seeks to investigate and explain Cosmos and man's role herein, both on the basis of occult research (research based on extrasensory perception, be it clairvoyance, clairvoyance, visions, telepathically received messages or memories or visions retrieved through hypnotic regression, i.e. from higher states of consciousness) which is taught by a number of Theosophical groups (see the links list: click here ) around the world.

Visdom er vigtig at have.

NEW The title of this homepage is meant in two ways. Firstly it refers to the modern theosophical movement as started by H.P. Blavatsky , H.S. Olcott, W.Q. Judge and others. This movement is modern in the sense that its present form is only one and a quarter century old (speaking in 2000). The second meaning refers to the content found here as opposed to that found in the Esoteric Studies Guide . There I have focussed on the occult side of theosophy. Here I focus on the more general subjects of ethics inner growth metaphysics karma and reincarnation and introductions into theosophy . The writers are mostly from Theosophical Societies - whether founders or more modern. There are also naratives, jokes and stories by W.Q. Judge and others - well worth reading. Krishnamurti is one of the authors presented, even though technically he is not part of the movement. His work has changed the TS-Adyar profoundly though. For that reason excluding him would be folly.

"...the Brotherhood of Bodhisattvas, the Society of Sages, the Lodge of Mahatmas continuously resides on this cosmic plane of supreme cognition. These self-luminous beings are everywhere and nowhere.... Yet, while there are ... secret centres of initiation, access to the Brotherhood has nothing to do with physical nearness or distance. Mahatmas are essentially beings who ceaselessly function on unseen planes of ideation mirroring universal states of consciousness. Any individual anywhere who is universal in spirit, non-sectarian in attitude, free from fixation upon place or time, who is truly devoted to universal good and human welfare, may come into the radius of influence of the Brotherhood of Bodhisattvas and their accredited agents in the world."

Theosophy
Theosophia = "wisdom concerning God Theosophy is a term used in general to designate the knowledge of God supposed to be obtained by the direct intuition of the Divine essence. In method it differs from theology, which is the knowledge of God obtained by revelation , and from philosophy, which is the knowledge of Divine things acquire by human reasoning . It is often incorrectly confounded with mysticism, for the latter is properly the thirst for the Divine, the aspiration for the invisible, and hence a natural manifestation of the religious sentiment. By intuition or illumination the initiated Theosophists are considered to be in harmony with the central principle of the universe. This knowledge of the secret forces of nature of the true relation between the world and man frees them from the ordinary limitations of human life, and gives them a peculiar power over the hidden forces of the macrocosm. Their exceptional faculties are alleged as experimental proof of their superior science: they are the only guarantee of the truth of their teaching. They are said to transmit this truth by way of revelation. Thus theosophy appeals to tradition but not in the Christian sense.

This is a really important text for anyone interested in reincarnation. It puts everything you thought you knew about the subject in a new perspective - and eventually leads to a new understanding of how it is NOT the personality that reincarnates and with the question of what does reincarnate still open. And lots of other interesting stuff of course. On death and beyond ... Reincarnation Karma - a survey , by Katinka Hesselink Karma , by H. P. Blavatsky.
