Apart from the very important reason that it is quite an enjoyable game, we have chosen Lands of Lore for several reasons. Other, simpler examples of automata also exist. ( Automata is the plural of automaton .) These more abstract rule-following devices can be easier to study computers, and they can be interesting to study in their own right. I should have had 8 done by now, but I slacked off for two days. I got accepted at George Washington University's Graduate Program so that pretty much got my nervousness at a new high. I'll be saving space and covenience by not taking pictures of individual hounds until I finish the remaining 7. At least you can see what they look like now on 3 different hound models. I've finished one of the warhounds to see what the end result would be. I finished this in model in one day, not sure exactly how long it took though. You can see the hound here Prepping the Next Things to Paint I've glued and putted 10 Warhounds, 30 or so Marauders, a Chaos Spawn, and a mounted Sorcerer to get ready for priming and painting. I also have about 12 or 15 chaos warriors that I have primed that I need to paint. I'll be hitting the warhounds, warriors, and marauders next in my to paint list. I won't be getting as detailed in the layers with the marauders and warriors (except for the first rank) as I have with the knights. Dry brushing with some highlighting will pretty much be the painting exercise for the core troops.

The number of interested visitors I get constantly amazes me, some 100,000 in just the last two years alone! In the wake of an economic as well as a technological revolution, it's comforting to see the number of intelligent people out there interested in understanding (at some basic level) a pure science such as chaos theory. Due to the incredible success of this essay (numerous online awards as well as a citation in the New York Times ), I have taken it upon myself to write a book that deals with what I feel to be some of the most interesting breakthroughs in theoretical physics to date. In addition to a chapter on chaos theory (approximately four times as long as this introductory essay and with more interesting examples), I have also included chapters on relativity, quantum mechanics, string theory and the universe, and even a section on the applications of such theories and how they're shaping the future of both science and society. Chaos Theory: A Brief Introduction What exactly is chaos? Put simply, it is the idea that it is possible to get completely random results from normal equations. Chaos theory also covers the reverse: finding the order in what appears to be completely random data. When was chaos first discovered? The first true experimenter in chaos was a meteorologist, named Edward Lorenz. In 1960, he was working on the problem of weather prediction. He had a computer set up, with a set of twelve equations to model the weather. It didn't predict the weather itself. However this computer program did theoretically predict what the weather might be. One day in 1961, he wanted to see a particular sequence again. To save time, he started in the middle of the sequence, instead of the beginning. He entered the number off his printout and left to let it run. When he came back an hour later, the sequence had evolved differently. Instead of the same pattern as before, it diverged from the pattern, ending up wildly different from the original. (See figure 1.) Eventually he figured out what happened. The computer stored the numbers to six decimal places in its memory. To save paper, he only had it print out three decimal places. In the original sequence, the number was .506127, and he had only typed the first three digits, .506. By all conventional ideas of the time, it should have worked. He should have gotten a sequence very close to the original sequence. A scientist considers himself lucky if he can get measurements with accuracy to three decimal places. Surely the fourth and fifth, impossible to measure using reasonable methods, can't have a huge effect on the outcome of the experiment. Lorenz proved this idea wrong.
