Laboratory for Molecular Robotics
The Laboratory for Molecular Robotics (LMR) was founded in 1994 with the primary goal of studying manipulation of molecular-sized components with Scanning Probe Microscopes (SPMs). As we became increasingly proficient at nanomanipulation, our goals were broadened to include most of the emerging area of nanorobotics, which encompasses:
(i) Programmable assembly of nanoscale components either by manipulation with SPMs (or other robotic devices), or by self-assembly on programmed templates or scaffolds.
(ii) Design and fabrication of nanorobots with overal dimensions at or below the micrometer range and made of nanoscopic components.
(iii) Programming and coordination of large numbers of such nanorobots.

Welcome to Solarbotics Ltd.! Solarbotics is committed to offering kits, parts and information on the expanding field of BEAM Robotics. BEAM Robotics was invented by Mark Tilden in 1989. He believes that simple electronics, combined with robust mechanics (and quite often solar power) produce very capable robots. Solarbotics has a mandate to make BEAM Robotics accessible to all levels of enthusiasts. From the teaching the basics with a Symet or SolarSpeeder, to the intermediate PhotoPopper Photovore, or even the most advanced two and four-legged ScoutWalker kits - we've got a project to interest you! For those who are deeply committed to scratch-building, we offer Sherline Mills, Lathes and accessories, making it possible to invent your own parts.
