It's an awesome privilege only a handful of people will ever experience. You'll be helping with the vital research and conservation of one of the world's endangered animals. The humpbacks of Tonga are especially vulnerable and your contribution can make a real difference. Humpback whales migrate to the beautiful islands of Tonga each year to breed and give birth to their calves in the warm sheltered waters. They migrate around 5,000 miles from their feeding grounds in the Ross Sea, Antarctica, arriving in Tonga in late June/July. We should be able to swim with mothers and calves, as well as mother calf and escort groups when they allow us to get close to them. We should see a variety of surface activity such as breaching, pec-slapping and tail-slapping. Each day we will search for whales from our research boat and are free to be flexible according to weather conditions, whale encounters etc. Be ready for some amazing experiences you'll never forget!
