In a effort to learn more about how statistics plays a role in other disciplines. You will play a part in teaching other students about contributions made by a specific person in the discipline and how their work contributes to the body of knowledge. For this project select one of the following statisticians to research their contribution to the field of statistics and other disciplines. Complete your research as a web page and post it to your West Virginia State College web page account. For instructions on using your West Virginia State College web account please refer to the help page at computer services. You may also want to take a look at an example procedure for using telnet and file transfer protocol. Be sure to send Professor Lewis a reference link to you page via email so that he can coordinate the student pages. I prefer that you select one of the more famous statisticians that have made substantial contributions to your selected discipline. A B C D ...

BIBLIOGRAPHY OF PRIMARY SOURCE PUBLICATIONS CITED IN CHRONOLOGY OF SCIENCE IN THE UNITED STATES 1790-1910 An alphabetical bibliography of works cited in the Chronology of Science in the United States 1790-1910 The bibliography is generally organized by author (with some title entries, including periodicals) and gives more specific and complete citation information than provided in the chronology itself. The citations are linked to the appropriate entries in the chronology, which often give additional information about the circumstances, nature, or significance of the publication. In all cases, the surrounding chronology entries will provide general context for the work. A B C D ... X-Y-Z A [RETURN TO TOP] Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia. 47. Chronology Of Science In The United States
It was edited in New York by George Baron and later by robert adrain (17751843).0048. Periodicals and Publishing / Mathematics. 1804 (February 6).
    http://home.earthlink.net/~claelliott/chron1800.htm
Chronology of Science in the United States 1800-1809 DATE EVENT SUBJECTS Benjamin Waterhouse (1754-1846) vaccinated his son for smallpox, the first American physician to use the procedure. Medicine / Disease ca.1800 John Griscom (1774-1852) began public subscription lectures in New York on science (especially chemistry). This was the start of Griscom's lecturing that continued for a number of years. General or Miscellaneous / Chemistry The first modern suspension bridge was built by Pennsylvanian James Finley. Engineering and Applied Science Jared Mansfield (1759-1830) published Essays, Mathematical and Physical (New Haven), which has been referred to as the first work of original research in mathematics by an American. Mathematics Charles Willson Peale (1741-1827) and his son Rembrandt Peale (1778-1860) excavated and assembled the almost complete skeletal remains of two mastodons found in Orange County, New York. One was added to the father's Philadelphia natural history museum, while the son took the other on tour in 1802 to New York and to London. In 1814, Rembrandt Peale established a museum in Baltimore and the second mastodon was displayed there. Paleontology / Zoology 1801 (September 1) David Hosack (1769-1835) purchased twenty acres on Manhattan on which he subsequently developed his Elgin Botanic Garden. From 1809 to 1811, Frederick Pursh (1774-1820) served as gardener. In 1811, the Garden became the property of the Regents of the State of New York; in 1814, it was attached to Columbia University but was not maintained.

"I can do everything through Him who gives me strength."
    Williams gains new reputation
    By Greg Keraghosian
Assistant Sports Editor Just hang around Heritage Hall or North Gym one of these afternoons. In the distance, you might hear a sound. As you draw nearer to it, it might reveal itself to be singing. And when you find the source, don't be surprised if it's Adrain Williams.
"I sing all the time, every day," said the freshman center on the USC women's basketball team. "If I'm bored, I'll just sing. If I'm waiting for someone, I'll just sing."
In just months, Williams' fetish for singing has already gained her a reputation for it here. But it's another reputation her basketball skills that she's still struggling to justify at this, the next level.
Ever since she has known how to talk, Williams has been exposed to singing. Her father, Lester, was a Gospel singer who cut an album in 1985 and did all the necessary teaching.
