Interview with Stephen Batchelor
On April 18, 2000 I had the privilege of sitting down with Stephen Batchelor for half an hour at the home of Shirley Ray in Salt Lake City. The author of Buddhism Without Beliefs was in Salt Lake on an author tour promoting his new book, Verses from the Center. I talked with him about the new book, but also about his personal background and his widely respected view of Buddhism in our culture. I have included here transcripts of that interview in both Microsoft Word and plain text formats along with several mp3 audio files. Dan Bammes Batchelor's approach isn't really about Buddhism. 15 seconds 76K Batchelor's long-term view on the development of Western Buddhism. 1 minute 33 seconds 228K Batchelor's new book Verses from the Center is a translation of the work of Nagarjuna, an important transitional figure in Buddhist thought. 1 minute 38 seconds 482K 3 minutes 21 seconds 986K Batchelor reacts to George W. BATCHELOR'S SWAN SONG
Not one of them could explain it. One minute a guy was out there.
Sure, he had affairs, but they were always short lived.
Every guy knew they would end in disappointment. They always did.
Then every once in a while, one of their own, jumped ship.
This time it was George. The one who sought the 'quality house' way back
George used to be dependable. He could be counted on.
Now here he was licking wedding invitations
And the men's group had not a glimmer of an explanation.
Geoege tried to tell them, in his halting voice, he began 'Can you recall what it was like, when you first met a woman?' He liked to start all his answers quite slowly. 'Remember how you felt, suddenly, like you were alive?' All the guys nodded. That adrenaline rush, as they were truly wanted Was something very familiar to all of them. Not a feeling of conquest or power, really, but something deeper Like that seeking part of each of them had suddenly been assuaged. Each guy briefly reminised about a recent exploit. The group knew it all

At times they could be extremely irritating to people, but in the end, they simply were shooed away and ignored. The Blazers were just good enough to beat Louisville and DePaul and win 14 games. And they were just bad enough to go 1-10 on the road and lose 14 games. The main problem was a lack of any significant inside game. UAB's third-leading rebounder last season, departed swingman Torrey Ward, was only 6-foot-3. And no player was big enough to score easy baskets inside, as indicated by the team's .416 shooting percentage. Fast facts Coach: Murry Bartow At UAB and overall: 73-52, 4 years

Carried by ships to provide stability, this ballast water often contains nonnative plants, animals, bacteria, and pathogens that have the potential to displace native species, degrade native habitats, spread disease, and disrupt human social and economic activities. The new ballast water treatment system uses filtration and UV-irradiation to remove invasive aquatic species from ballast water aboard ships before they reach their port of call. The system pumps in sea water, routes it into a series of pipes, one of which separates biological organisms like zooplankton and phytoplankton through a hydroclone filtration system, then passes the water through a UV radiation system, killing bacteria.

Charlie Batchelor:
an Australian fiddler
Meeting Charlie:
Born in 1897 near Bingara, NSW, Charlie Batchelor died in mid-1984. Over the last few years of his long life Charlie was the subject of increasing attention from young musicians in search of locally sourced Australian 'traditional' or 'folk' music. During 1983/4 he made some half-a-dozen visits to NSW festivals, performing in concert and for dancing, as well as informally. The appearance of Charlie and his music caused a bit of a stir in the Australian folk revival, spawning a number of new field collectors and a renewed focus on Australian vernacular music(s). The captivating sound of Charlie's playing and music caused this impact - a unique blend of the familiar and the exotic. An awareness developed that Australian sourced music could actually be attractive to play and dance to. This article will attempt to locate Charlie and his music within the context of his life and historical community and, belatedly, on the contemporary stage of the Australian folk revival. We first met Charlie at his small property, 'Emu Vale' in mid 1981. The middle of a long drought had barely left a blade of grass standing.

    Introduction
This Web Page is designed to answer many questions regarding the office policies, expectations, qualifications, equipment, instrumentation, and examinations used at the Batchelor Chiropractic Clinic. Dr. Batchelor and his assistants will be happy to answer any other questions you may have. By staying abreast of the scientific and technical developments in chiropractic and related health care fields we provide the most effective chiropractic care available. The basic difference is that chiropractors do not use medications or surgery as treatment, but rather specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of neurological, musculoskelatal, and spinal dysfunction at a sophisticated and refined level. Whatever your own personal case may be; acute injuries to regular preventative and maintenance care, you will recieve quality health care at a reasonable cost. Batchelor Chiropractic Clinic incorporates the use of combined research and development by engineers, physicists, mathematicians, and chiropractors. A highly exact and scientific technique called precision chiropractic is used to restore and maintain the structure of the body in its most optimum state, for maximum health and happiness.
