COCKER SPANIEL
English Cocker Spaniel
Cocker anglais

ACT I: FUN AND GAMES

The play begins with George and Martha entering the living room
of their house late at night. They are returning from a late night
party hosted by Martha's father and are both drunk. Martha is her usual boisterous self, constantly calling George a "cluck" as well as cursing him in every conceivable way. George tries to calm her down with a drink since it is two in the morning. Martha is irritated at not being able to recollect a Betty Davis movie in which she works at a grocery store and is married to Joseph Cotten. She is

Sunnycap Compliments of Cocker Spaniel Rescue of British Columbia Jim Reid, Director, ACSCC CCrew ... Featherstep Cocker Origins: The cocker spaniel evolved from a very old type of dog classified generally as Spaniels. Historical literature purports that spaniels originated in Spain. Early type of the Spanish Spaniel developed as other countries adopted game flushing spaniels. The breed was a product of those who kept it and the environment in which it worked. Particularly in England, selection was made for a flushing spaniel that was used primarily for hunting woodcocks, snipe, and other ground birds. A review of various literature details a hardy, small dog that was easy to care for.
The first cocker was registered with the American Kennel Club in 1879.
In 1883 the American Spaniel Club was organized.
In America, two distinct varieties of cocker spaniel began to emerge. By the 1930s the differences were so pronounced, efforts were undertaken to grant each its own breed classification.
In 1949, the American Kennel Club recognized a new distinct breed: Cocker Spaniel, known affectionately as the American Cocker Spaniel ( See Standard ) while the original cocker was named the English Cocker.

I'm the same! Want a general pal and pet? Where can anybody get one that's better?(I'm no knocker) Than a really firstclass cocker! by edward Anthony - 1947.
http://www.cybrtyme.com/personal/lisa/boomer.htm
Sir Boomerang Rex "Boomer" Boomer was born on December 19, 1989.
His sire was "Sir Korkindale Kidd" and his dam was "Keith's Kandace."
I received Boomer as a birthday present from my parents.
He remains the best birthday present I have ever received or will ever receive. Sadly, Boomer died on April 20, 2002 at the age of 12. Up until the day he died, he was extremely loving and just as playful as he was when he was a puppy. He is very much missed.
A Little About Cocker Spaniels
This breed was developed several hundred years ago from a common ancestor of today's spaniels. This breed was divided into water and land spaniels, the latter was further divided into small and large spaniels. From the small spaniels the Cocker was created, and was known for its ability to flush ground birds. The breed is still used for hunting today, although it is mainly seen as a family pet. The name "Cocker" comes from the woodcock, a game bird these spaniels flushed particularly well. Today, the Cocker Spaniel serves primarily as a companion and glamorous show dog. It can also be used for hunting, tracking, retrieving, watchdogging, and agility. Rare Books at the University of Michigan
The University of Michigan Library started with 3707 volumes (purchased for $5000), including Audubon's "The Birds of America" (1827-38). It offered little mathematics and grew slowly. A major improvement came in 1881 when a complete run of Crelle's Journal was donated. Two faculty made important contributions to the mathematics collection. Alexander Ziwet, who was on the faculty from 1898 to 1925, worked to improve the library and contributed a large collection of his own books. Louis C. Karpinski, on the faculty from 1904 to 1948, gathered many rare volumes for the mathematics collection. Another important influence occurred in 1964 when Mathematical Reviews moved to Ann Arbor. Today the mathematics collection at the University of Michigan is one of the best in the world. The collection of rare mathematics books is outstanding. The titles listed below in chronological order were selected by V. Frederick Rickey, of Bowling Green State University, to show to a history of mathematics course taught at Michigan State University by Dan Chazan on March 11, 1996. We would like to thank Peggy Daub, Head of Special Collections and curator of the mathematics collection at the library for her assistance.

Browne's most substantial work in which he applies his brilliant scientific mind to a wealth of common misconceptions, at the same time providing a fascinating account of popular superstition and tradition. The book came to be known as Browne's "Vulgar Errors". It was the result of many years of experimental investigation and is also hugely entertaining.
